New Helmet for Duke

I like 'em. Good idea to wear white for a 12:30 kick in the sunny south.

Back in the day, a team's helmets were a HUGE part of their identity. Now days, save for a few schools (Michigan, Penn State), that's mostly gone to the wayside with teams changing their look per game. I guess the kids love it...so I can deal with it. But I still miss when I could turn to a game and know immediatly who was playing without having to actually look at the score.

Heh.... just teasing you. I'm an old man too now. But I don't mind the uni changes as much.

"The helmet features a big wildcat logo similar to the one featured on the black helmets worn by Northwestern against Ohio State in 2013."

Anyone superstitious?

I like it. A pretty decent take on the "big logo" fad currently going around college football.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Don't even bring up our record with alternative helmets and uniforms. The times, they are a changin'.

At least there is a clean slate with the combo of this helmet with the big sticker. So no superstitions apply. :)

I will love these helmets if we win!

For the record, we won the gator bowl in an alternate helmet

And IMO that was the coolest helmet we have worn to date

Honestly I prefer the black version of these helmets much much more. The all white helmets with the purple N are cooler then these in my opinion.

It looks awful. This is what happens when you give a teenager a tube of glue and a magic marker.

That little lighning bolt reminds me of the USAFA helmets. (Not a good thing).

They look fine from down here in Florida. Heck, if I were coach Fitz, I'd let the team decide on their garb if they won the previous week. If the previous week was a loss, I'd make 'em wear pink socks.

and, Go Cats !!

I'm fine with the helmets...if we win. As I've stated before, I'm not superstitious but the correlation between us rolling out special uniforms and a higher loss percentage is troubling...whether our players lose focus because of the shiny new helmets or whatever...just win and wear whatever you want.

My daughter was born seven-plus weeks early. My wife went into the hospital the Sunday night/Monday morning after the Maine game (my four year old son and I had flown to Chicago for the Maine game, and only arrived home around 2 pm, with my wife feeling 'off'), and she and my daughter held off until Thursday morning. 32 1/2 weeks. My daughter spent about two weeks in the NICU, and has fortunately been totally healthy since, despite the early, early birth.

That Ohio State game - the first half, anyway - was the first time my wife and I had fun after my daughter was born. Work and hospital drives and trying to monitor her feedings and trying not to ignore your kids who know you're spending a lot of time with this alien baby isn't very fun. We wore purple, drank too much fruit-flavored beer (a purple-hued Shock Top), and screamed and cheered in real time (no DVR with our boys asleep). Gosh it was fun. Even if it sucked in the end.

However, the Ohio State game - my daughter's first, though she experienced it from the NICU - also marked the beginning of the downturn of the Wildcat program. I love her (more than her brothers, duh), and I'm happy she's healthy, but I still haven't forgiven her. Things were just going so well in purple nation until she arrived... ("Kanye named his baby after us", I think the sign on Gameday said. Gameday! Because we earned it!)

Anyway, I see the resurrection of the HUGE Wildcat sticker as a major step in her redemption. Her brothers will be at a birthday party. It'll be just the two of us watching. Maybe I'll give her a sip of berry-flavored InBev piss.

Don't screw it up, kid.
