New site layout...

Haven't had any issues. It now resembles other message boards on which I post, whereas before it was an outlier.

It's starting to grow on me. I think I like it.

One feature I really like is that when you click on a thread - it automatically remembers where you last read the thread and skips to the first new post, regardless of what page it might be on. Something that is lost on the thread view knuckle-draggers I suppose, but it is a kick ass feature that avoids clicks to pages that you may have already completely read and reduces time spent looking for new posts in Topic View.

But, you really need to add those pull down menus for instant access to the other message boards... Until that happens, I cannot fully endorse this new message board format.

This, and the new quoting features, have me converted. I just hated topic view because you couldn't tell who was responding to who. The new quoting features are amazing and the best I've seen on any message board I participate in. If people actually use them then it makes thread view obsolete anyway. This place went from worst to first among any internet forum I've seen.

I also like that you can go back and edit your posts without infinite "last edited"s.

E-Cat, I'm fully in agreement on the lack of pull-down/drop-down menus to navigate. I like to jump from one board to another, both on this site and the site of another school in the conference, and the new format requires many more clicks to get it done. That might be the business model, but it discourages me from using the site.

The comments by Ecat and Villox are very true, but I still liked the ease in which one could check for new posts on thread view with only a few clicks to cover all boards. They need to have pulldown menus for switching from board to board. I liked Scout's format on boards like the Vandy board which map the direction of conversations. This board will just take some getting used to. The PM function is GREAT, and I think more people will use and like this feature once the boards really start cranking in the fall. The discussions I've had privately with others on Scout and here so far have been excellent.

I like that the number of views for a thread are NOT reported. That reduces the reward for trolling and attention seeking for some people. I would like to see lists of who's on the board at any given time, though.

I just found the list of who's on the board in the index to massage boards page. Good.

That you can select multiple parts of a person's message...

I just found the list of who's on the board in the index

And quote them in separate sections so you can reply to those parts.

But, you really need to add those pull down menus

Even from different people.
