Nia Coffey

Queue another bitch, whine, and criticism from Grumpy McGrumperson.

Wrong. Wrong. and Wrong.

Do you these three stooges ever have anything betters to do that name-call? Ever?

It's pretty pathetic, particularly Spud.

For those who follow it more closely (I make it out to a game or two per year), what might we expect from this year's squad? Is a top-half-of-the-Big Ten finish reasonable? Top third? Or would that be a bit of a reach?

Top half.

Not off to a get start against Hampton. Hampton up 18-9 at the end of the 1st. Cats doing a lot of perimeter passing and not shooting very well. Hope it's just 1st quarter/1st game settling in.

Top half.

Yes and put it this way, it's a wonderful sight to see Lauren Douglas back.

Also, I don't know if she has improved or will just get more minutes this year but the Cats expect a lot from Rohde in 2016-17.

A lot of legit Big Ten players on this team and a very good starting five and perhaps the best 6th player in the conference (Douglas)?

Uh, Coffey is day-to-day, unless you know something we don't....

No, just think it's odd and sad that every single player we build up with an advertising campaign gets injured and misses games. Just coincidental. Dont you think that is rotten luck?

Player promotion is apparently NU marketing's "shiny new thing". They can't help but be attracted to it. Sad. They should try something original - like winning. That's the best way to make sure everybody knows who your best players are.

She's back playing tonight vs. Florida and looks fine.

Edit:better than fine. She has 18, with 5 minutes left to go in the FIRST HALF!

Yeah and a good win. Inman was out with her bad ankle though? Scheid looked good. Would be nice to identify a new regular contributor.

According to reports, it is not the ankle but an "upper body" injury. With Scheid's play. fortunately it didn't matter....

I know it is only the noncon, but he has been playing a lot more players this year than in previous seasons.

I feel good about an NCAA appearance. You? I have a lot of questions about what happens to this program post-Coffey, though.

Would like to see a few more NC games before a I am confident about the NCAAs. though. For every Florida game thus far, there has been one like last night against a terrible Evansville squad, a "name your score" game where our bench should have dominated but looked completely lost for stretches as Joe had to play the starters much more than I am certain he wished to play them. ... More depth this year but some nights I feel like we are just one player short or the competitive depth we needed (and we have been as Inman and Coffey have been hurt at times, so perhaps that is clouding my perception).

Whenever one graduates a WNBA player, there is worry, but remember that Joe, unlike Collins, has the current luxury of being able to recruit top classes; we had TWO top-100 recruits this year. He has had trouble in the past with some recruits sticking, but that seems to have abated in the past two years, so I am not necessarily gloom-and-doom about the future, but losing Coffey and so many other pieces (Deary, Inman and Douglas) probably means that next year is a rebuilding year. However, we do have bigs (Hamilton and Wolf are both 6-4), which is something we have not had in recent years, due to transfers and Tuttle not panning out, and capable bigs mean a lot in the women's game. ..
