Nike invented a helmet with a mesh that goes over the face and neck. The purpose is to chill to body between decathlon events and was specially made for Ashton Eaton. Basically, you soak the helmet in cold water and then wear it. Does it have a place in football between drives?

Personally, I don't like going from cold to working out. I like to be a little warm otherwise the heat hits me in the face. At my gym, the programming will often call for an outside run followed by an indoor lift, back to an outside run... If the gym is being air conditioned, hitting the heat will often be worse than if the gym is not air conditioned and I'm staying at a constant hotter temperature. With that said, my workouts aren't as grueling as a college football game or decathlon and are not 3 hours in the heat.

I would assume that there is more time in between events than there is during drives and there are less surprises. As such, Eaton could cool himself off after an event and then warm up before the next event. In football, the defense can come off the field, grab his ice helmet and then be back on the field after a quick score or a turnover. Even a 7 play drive is only going to take a few minutes of actual time.
