NIT UPDATE

When NU made it in 2017, I swore I’d never care about the NIT ever again. I wavered on that a bit the last five years, but I imagine I’d actually get sucked in if we were stuck in the Not Invited Tournament again.

I care about the NIT because I root for all of the Big Ten teams playing in that tournament. One of my daughters went to Wisconsin and the other went to Michigan, so I hope one of them wins the NIT! Both of those daughters got a great education and went on to receive masters and doctorate degrees from other institutions. It was also fun to see Pitt, my other Alma Mater, take down Mississippi State in the NCAA play-in game, but if they collide with NU in the Big Dance, I would root for the 'Cats!

Well, it's definitely not going to be Rutgers.

I actually started this post wanting to note that NU opponents Michigan, Wisconsin, and Liberty all won last night, while Rutgers lost, but then I realized, there are REAL GAMES tomorrow.

I'd still get excited to watch NU in the NIT, but I'm glad that's not happening this year.
