Northwestern offers local 2020 PG

Already holds an Illinois and DePaul offer. From the same school as Lindsey.

Cats also offer EJ Liddell, 6-8 F from East St. Louis. There’s a great picture of Chris Collins, Brian James and Brad Underwood sitting next to each other at the Centralia Tournament Saturday night. Game that afternoon, visit to Centralia that night.

I thought the Cats already offered Steward....and on a previous thread I thought we pointed out that Tino Malnati's dad is Steward's coach at Fenwick.

He was formerly New Trier's coach and ran a really nice motion offense that opened up a lot of three's.

They were probably at the Centralia House for shrimp and steaks and overheard that a bball tournament was taking place nearby.

Watched Steward play again last night. Even though my son's team pulled off an upset of Fenwick last night I must say I continue to be very impressed with Steward. Incredibly fluid lanky athlete who is an excellent shooter and ball handler. I was even more impressed with the effort and intensity he plays with on the defensive end. Fenwick is rated the 8th best team in the area but they would really struggle to post a winning record without Steward. The kid is that good and deserves to be rated as high as he is. I really hope Collins prioritizes him because he is the kind of difference maker that is currently in short supply at NU.

Corbi: Seeing as how I am a 10 minute walk from Fenwick, are you saying I should catch him in action?

Yes, he is worth taking in a game. He is only a sophomore so it is exciting to think how good this guy could be with two more years of growth and development. The rest of the team is average but he is worth the price of admission. The best player at Fenwick since Maggette.

PB Jr. has his high school, Sussex Hamilton, in Wisconsin’s D1 final four for the first time since 1987. Baldwin Jr. is on everyone’s radar.

Word is DJ is transferring to Whitney Young. Malnati’s departure must have been the catalyst.

corbi, fair to say that Young is a notch up academically from Fenwick? Perhaps he didn't feel challenged in his classes.

I don’t know about that. Young is a very good selective enrollment public HS. The high end academic kids at that school are top notch but my sense is that there is a tier at the school that just coast. Academically I would think it’s very comparable to Fenwick. I really think the move is more about Malnati leaving.

Well Young was ranked the #4 best H.S. in the state in 2017. Didn't see Fenwick mentioned. Also the Catholic high schools also practice selective enrollment and have for years.

Those rankings are for public HS only.

OK, thanks. is their a site that that ranks all high schools in the state?

Not that I am aware of. Besides, as Pawildcat said, the criteria can vary and not necessarily be representative. One national ranking uses number of students taking (not passing) AP tests and there have been some unscrupulous administrators that have have used these criteria to make it look like they were doing a better job with their HS than actually was the case.
In Chicago and suburbs there are many exceptional HS and Young is one of them. That being said, some private HS like Aurora Math & Science, Chicago Lab, Saint Ignatius, Benet, Loyola and probably Fenwick rank up there with the best of them.

I was poking a little fun at Fenwick which is an excellent school.

A few years ago I visited the Math & Science Academy.....it's on a whole other level. And that's as much about the students, I think, as the teachers.
