I was poking around the NCAA's stats website doing some research on NU and Boise State ahead of the game on Thursday, and Northwestern's FG% compared to the rest of the bracket is absurd. The Wildcats rank 332nd out of the 352 teams tracked on the NCAA site, by far the lowest in the bracket, and they still rightfully earned a No. 7-seed.
The next lowest FG% team in the top half of the bracket is No. 4 Tennessee at 230th, the next lowest in the whole thing is No. 11 Arizona State at 317th. There are just two teams in the 300s in the bracket, and just 10 teams 200s or worse in the bracket.
It's a great testament to how this team's dedication on defense has helped them overcome some of their weaknesses and build an amazing season. It also means, as I've optimistically been telling Louie the past couple games, the Wildcats are due to knock down some shots.
