Notebook: 'Not a cent' of NIL money used to build 2025 class, says Braun

Ok. Maybe this shows a commitment to basketball. Spend it on the successful program 🤷‍♂️

I don't think it is really possible to bring in seniors.
Grad students, yes.
Seniors? Pretty sure its no.
Gotta enroll in school and pursue a degree.
Typically, unless there is a path to a degree with half of the coursework credits completed at Northwestern, transfers will usually (always?) be rejected by admissions.

While that’s not untrue, you’re being totally pedantic. I’m just talking about last year of eligibility immediate starters. Grad students are routinely described as “seniors” or “fifth year seniors”

How does NU expect to compete if they’re not spending ANY NIL money? Or do they simply not expect to compete? Is it like the dark ages where they’re just happy to field a team? I don’t understand this at all…

Thanks for saying this. Me too! I just don't get it. All the big ten schools are spending. Even bron and luhsans Ndsu and sdsu are spending. What is nu waiting for? Let's get a team together and make some more bowls!!

It’s all spelled out on the Rock. They have a plan; it might not be ideal…but they do have a plan in place.

Just making sure you understand how it works at NU.
Are you expecting Northwestern to go find a whole bunch of grad students with eligibility?
I don't understand what you're urging NU to do.

We have $5-10 million to retain existing key players and acquire impact players.

We just lost* several of our most key players. We need to acquire quite a few impact players.

* - maybe we can induce some to come back, idk

That is difficult to do at Northwestern.

I don't think we can easily bring in upperclassmen because of admissions policy against that.

Also, the pool of grad students with eligibility is not that large because the Covid eligibility year is not available for the class of 2025 - so we're looking at redshirts (or medical redshirts) who are graduating by next summer. But anybody who played 4 seasons is out of eligibility.
I suppose there are some guys like AJ Henning who graduated in 3 years - we can bring those guys in.
