I am writing a short preview for the IU site’s magazine and was asked for a potential starting five. Since it would be just a guess at this point, I decided to check with sources for some inside info.
I learned that these are NU’s likely starters right now:
Anthony Gaines
Ryan Taylor
AJ Turner
Vic Law
Dererk Pardon
That surprised me a little bit. They don’t look at Gaines as the point guard in this lineup: they have two guards (Gaines and Taylor), two wings (Turner and Law) and a post (Pardon).
This has a chance to be a very good defensive team, though they’ll be a little light up front. That backcourt will be LONG. They should also have some pretty good depth off the bench, assuming the freshmen are as advertised.
