NU looked no less impressive. Maryland is bad, so is Illinois. Maryland arguably has more raw talent, bulk and speed than Illinois. Not just anyone gets recruited to play quarterback at Bama, and certainly no one on Illinois’ roster.

This is a NU team 1 year removed from running the table in the B1G West, with many of those pieces intact. It arguably has the best quarterback situation it had since pre-Thorson, at least. Bucky lacks the dominant rushing game it is accustomed to, and freshman inexperience tends to show up at inopportune times.

The Iowa game will answer many questions. So will the Bucky-Nebby game this weekend.

I am no Nebby backer, but they have a shot in this game without Mertz playing.

Good points.

The NU disaster season of 2019 started with the disastrous QB play, and the domino effect on the offense and then the defense turned into the worst train wreck of Fitz's coaching career. With Peyton and Coach Jake turning this offense around, I think we are one of the favorites to capture the B1G West again.
