NU needs McIntosh to return to form to make an NCAA run

Bryant McIntosh struggled in all three losses this season and the Cats need him to return to form to make the NCAAs.

Story: Cats need B-Mac to bounce back

Halfway through the regular season, I fear what we've seen is what we'll get from Bryant. Something is seriously screwed up in his shooting. My pet theory is that the Curry camp screwed him up as he tries to get his shot off as quickly as Steph does. Curry is a freak of nature, and Bryant should go back to his own shot which was good enough his first two years. Shooting just 40% from 2 and 25% from 3 this year, he is one of the (if not THE) worst shooting starting point guards in the Big 10.

He went after his freshman season as well. I blame the dime campaign. Or dumb luck. Just keep looking under rocks for explanations, I guess.

I'm going slightly into the wayback machine here, but this reminds me Winston Blake's senior season, where he just kind of lost his shot. We kept waiting. It didn't really come back.

Mc is a far better player, and I'll hold out hope that he finds his game again. Mc also has a chance to become the all-time assists leader at NU on Thursday. Maybe that's been on his mind? (Also a stretch.)

It's a guess, but I think his shot is going in when he practices.

Good shooters, and B Mac is a decent shooter, come out of it in time.

I'm more concerned with the turnovers than the shooting. In this offense, you have to take the shot. And he does. Some of the TO's are hard to figure. My money is that he cleans this up as well.

( @lou v - you used Dayton instead of Butler in a few spots, i think.)

You are correct. Good catch! Thanks for the edit.

Let's not forget that Demps went through a slump last season and worked his way out of it. The assist/turnover ratio is what's bugging me.
Did he really? I don't think he play as well his Senior year as he did his jR year except for a few games.

That is far more logical than my beard theory. Even so, the easiest thing he could do is shave his beard. If his shot doesn't come back in a couple of weeks, grow it again. When I was doing Olympic triathlons, I kept my hair really short; the heat of hair and facial hair was murder on stamina in races and in training.

If you recall, Tre shaved his head when in his slump and promptly came out of it......

I think a big part of the problem is that he is not taking good shots most of the time. I think teams are keying in on stopping him and have learned how to guard his penetrations into the lane probably from watching two years of tape on him. Its up to Bryant to make the adjustments.
