Northwestern has offered three-star, 6-foot-9 big man Zach Kent of New Jersey Blair Academy.

Here's the tweet from his coach:

Skinny dude-- 6-10, 205. Kind of hard to decipher his offer list -- different sources show offers from Indiana and Notre Dame, while others show only schools like Dayton and Georgia Tech. Rivals says he's been offered by Maryland, ND, Tech, Oregon and Providence. This latest offer tells me we're not holding our breath on Nwora or Eastern, which I guess should come as no big surprise.

Notre Dame has backed off of him. Now that Indiana landed Moore, I can't imagine the Hoosiers are still recruiting him either.

I hope we see more offers with guys of this size. I'm assuming the staff is reasonably happy with the roster. They have somewhat covered their bets for now at 2G with Gaines.

Unless there are some fairly obvious options, if they are recruiting "projects," I want to see size, size and more size. The have more than enough 6-8 guys and under who really don't bang.

Judging on this young man's build, I don't think I'd characterize him as a future "banger." But I'm with you on the need for size.

Wasn't too bothered by the lack of commits (prior to Gaines) as figured that the 'Cats are pretty good shape for the near term and that at this stage, the recruits that CC and Co. were going after were looking for tangible evidence (at least an NIT bid and maybe a decent run), leaving CC and Co. to go to their "B" list made up of recruits w/ the size/athleticism, but needing development or recruits w/ the BB skills but undersized.

Gaines, tho, seems like a promising complement to Brown as the future of NU's backcourt.
