I like that we play DePaul every year. The games tend to be entertaining, if a little ragged. Now that everyone agrees Loyola is a worthy opponent, we should get a series going with them as well.
I’d like to see a Chicago college series like Philly does with the Big Five. Chicago could have four: NU, DePaul, Loyola, UIC.
Collins has said that he'd like to schedule more local schools but with the conference going to a full home and home schedule, available dates are a problem. remember they already have a game each year with an ACC opponent and think at least another tournament.I like the idea of individual series with each school depending on how good each side is, with the games on campus. The biggest reason not to is probably the risk of denting the March resume by losing to a high-RPI team ... but in that case, we wouldn't play DePaul many years (and a lot of teams wouldn't play us). It'll never make sense to me why we don't schedule more local and regional series, like the future Doug Collins Invitational against Illinois State.
Actually, they aren't going to a full home-and-home conference schedule. They are adding 2 B1G games bringing the conference to 20 games. A full schedule would be 26 games. Twenty seems about the right number of conference games, which have the best attendance. Keep a few tomato can games for warm up, plus a tournament and challenge games like the ACC and Big East.Collins has said that he'd like to schedule more local schools but with the conference going to a full home and home schedule, available dates are a problem. remember they already have a game each year with an ACC opponent and think at least another tournament.
Thanks, I stand corrected. Still 20 conference games, plus an Big East, ACC and a couple of tournament games leave a lot fewer available dates. Then add in the annual DePaul and Chicago State games and now it gets even tighter. Still would like to see Loyola and Marquette on the schedule, maybe Bradley and SIU as well.Actually, they aren't going to a full home-and-home conference schedule. Would love this.I’d like to see a Chicago college series like Philly does with the Big Five. Chicago could have four: NU, DePaul, Loyola, UIC.

I was thinking the same thing. Here's hoping NU keeps playing them and paying a nice guarantee for the appearance.Honestly if this ever happens I'd like to see Chicago State included. I know they're not on the level of the other 4 programs but they're in such poor shape that it would be nice to have the other local teams help them along a bit.

About the same as WR from the Purple. Would be fun for sure.I don't dislike your idea, catfan. This is just another suggestion.
The CTA triple-header ...
Game 1 at NU
Game 2 at Loyola
Game 3 at DePaul's dumpy little, on campus gym. Isn't the walk to SunTrust from the red line too far?
I know it will never happen, but it's fun to talk about.
For me, I'd really love to know the story of why these teams rarely play. I assume it's not a coach thing. There's been too many changes at each of the schools.
Also, there's no longer a dominant program.
Fans talk about it. The coaches give it some lip service every year. I don't know how it couldn't be more profitable than a game against Hyphenated U.
There HAS to be some explanation why this hasn't happened for decades.
