The only team I thought we could not be competitive with was Purdue, and we disproved that today. Ironically with the injuries, Pardon and Scottie are not totally gassed for the stretch run (presuming Scottie can make his was back into game shape, he gets a little closer each game and played 26 minutes today).

The hot teams? Not on our side of the bracket now. We beat OSU/Rutgers winner, we play Maryland, who has been meh since they played us. We then played the winner of Minny/Wisky if seeds hold, which is looking like Wisky at this point. And I would rather play Wisky right now; Minny just looks like a tired team today, but they have been the hottest team in the league Then on to Purdue for the rematch!

I agree. And I just said on another thread, that rule of 3 is pretty solid: it's hard to beat the same team 3 times. So I'd like our chances if we play them again.

I think we match up really well with you guys. You guys kept getting burned by the double team. Swanigan is so hard to guard.

Yeah, he does seem to be a rule of 3 breaker.

I think we can handle him with quick help and force it out of his hand. That leaves other guys open and if they beat us, fine. It's obvious we can't play him one on one. Collins finally gave up on that after 3 halves.

Scottie's not moving like he was on offense. He's not pushing the issue without the ball. More needs to happen outside of Mac for the Cats to win from this point forward.

If that were the case then Iowa, Nebraska, Ohio State, IU, and Penn State can say the exact same thing because they managed a close game against Purdue at home. Everyone gets up to play them because they are at the top. If your home game isnt close, no matter who you are in this conference, then you have a problem.

On a neutral court without such an insane atmosphere, Purdue wins by double digits.

Agree to disagree. This game was played at an extremely high level today. To compare it to the Purdue game with Nebby, where Purdue phoned it in, is just silly, imo.

But let's not forget, Mike, that Maryland is playing practically walking distance from their campus. We've done well on the road thus far - and have given the Terrapins fits on their floor a couple of times now - but that's a tough hurdle.

Yes, but most likely all of the fans except Maryland's (and maybe the Illini fans), will be cheering for us as they perceive their team would have a better chance against NU than Maryland.

Yep. Anything is possible! Was just about to post current power rankings, but the upshot of part of that was my conclusion that the hottest teams are mostly on the upper half of the bracket. Wiscy has not been playing that well, their 2H against Minny excluded, and I think some of Maryland's freshmen have hit a bit of late season wall (recall BMac his first year) plus they've taken an injury down low. I like our draw at 6, all things at considered.
