Lindsey and Falzon are too selfish and score too much, so they go back to the bench as Cats prepare to tip off for game 3 in Espana!

Yea, this team is in Spain's top division and is pretty good, I think it just wasn't worth it for him to play last game and risk injury

Cats up 3 after 1 quarter. Lindsey leading the way again with 6 so far. Man, if this trip boosts this kid's confidence, he could be one of our stars this year. How cool would that be??

Cats up by 7 at the break. Demps leading the way with 11 and Lindsey with 8.

The tweets make it seem like this game is the Scottie Lindsey show.

40 point win for the Cats. Lindsey cracks the 20 pt barrier again! Getting excited for this kid.

Dude all I saw was olah season ending injury. Seriously my heart isn't that good

Ha! Sorry about that. Just having fun with all the speculating going on here yesterday. Will be interested in seeing a boxscore from this game to see how Olah, Law and BMac played.

There was a time in my youth when I could dunk a soccer ball, but could never quite do the real thing. Just didn't have the ups for it. Ah well..... glad these guys do.

For the doubters that Lindsey and Law added 15 pounds of muscle, he looks ripped.

These are exhibition games in Spain in August. However, you have to love what you are hearing about Lindsey. I remember a few people thinking Lindsey would be the best player in that 2014 freshman class. That remains to be seen, but he showed glimpses last year and love the start to this trip.

I don't know that they are great. They finished 10th in the league last year at .500.

But, looking at the roster, you have a guy who was a 4 year starter for NC State (and the ACC's leading 3 point shooter) who also played in the Summer League for the Clippers, you have a center with the Brazilian National Team, and a PG from the Argentine National Team who was also Argentine Cup MVP and also played for Spanish Champions Real Madrid, also another American who was a supplemental draft pick and played in the D-League and was NAIA Player of the Year.

On the bench, you have a guy who was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies, and whose rights were traded for Jeremy Lin at one point and now are owned by the Clippers, a guy who was on Spain's U18 team and was MVP in the 2nd division last year, a guy who was signed (but waived) by the Lakers at one point, another Brazilian national team member, and another Spanish national team member who also declined an offer to join the Orlando Magic summer league team.

Of course, this may not be the current roster but last years (gleaned from Wikipedia).

So, I wouldn't say they are awesome, but they are probably better than most of our non-conference opponents.

That was my dark horse pick before last season. He just seems to have the complete package. He can shoot. He can get to the rim. He can create with the ball. And he can play disruptive defense.

It's unclear to me if this is the same team. In the first game that we lost, someone suggested that the Spanish league teams have more than one squad that play in different divisions. I would be surprised if we beat the first division team you described above that badly. The team you described is better than some of the conference teams.

Scottie Lindsay is going to be my favorite player. He is the one player on the team I would not want to get in a street fight with. I'm sure he's a great kid off the court and all, but he plays with such a nasty streak, and I love it. It's not something I've seen from an NU player before. There was a play in particular against Iowa last year where he was getting into it with someone, and he stared the kid down and I could see the look in his eye that he was flat out pissed. I thought to myself, "holy sh*t I would not mess with that kid".

This was meant as a huge compliment to him, so please take it as such.

I also like when guys play with a little swagger and a touch of a mean streak (within reason). You know who else showed some signs of that last year? Vic Law. Nothing ever got out of control, but there were a few times when the referee had to pull him and an opposing player aside to have a little chat. You can tell Law is a competitor that won't back down from anyone.

I'd add Sanjay to the list. He is one tough SOB.

Both Law and Lindsey have athletic and long builds. Lindsey has an unusually long wing span which should lead to steals and deflected passes and fast break opportunities. From these photos it appears that Lindsey knows how to finish at the rim with his added strength and muscle. If Lindsey is adding a dribble drive component to his game (which I am hoping but not have seen), he will be a bear on offense and defense. Law and Lindsey should only grow with experience and physical growth and should be excellent defenders if they have that desire. Throw in MacIntosh, Falzon and hopefully, Benson and Pardon and you have a very athletic team for the next three years. Then throw in a couple of other players like Ash and next year's recruits and 2017 and there is a solid foundation to compete as a lot of Big 10 players leave early.

I think you're on to something here. The formula for NU could well be like the high mid-majors: develop talent over 4 (or 5) years and always have 2-3 senior starters. The fact that NU won't have many early departures to the NBA or European leagues mean that they should have a nice balance of experience and youth on each team. You'd like to see Seniors and Juniors (grown men) getting the bulk of the minutes and develop the younger guys. With the kind of talent Collins and staff are bringing in now, I can definitely see NU competitive for years to come.

Watching the highlight tape, those Murcia players all looked very young. No way that's a semi-pro team. Those are the 19Us or something. But if our young players are getting confident, then that is important right now.

You are probably right given margin of victory. Could be their JV team or their summer league equivalent or something. Wondering if Lou or Larry or someone can find out and ask.

I think you are right, I beleive it was the Murica B team (Murica II)

Their "A team" does play in the top flight spanish league, this must be a stepping stone in their academy

Completely right (except it is MURCIA, you have the "i" before the "c").
European pro teams, like MLB teams, may have multiple lower division affiliates, but not necessarily one at each possible level...
In fact Murcia II has most recently competed in Spain's Liga EBA, which is the FOURTH layer of pro basketball in Spain.
That is also Eurocolegio Casvi's level.
This would be like single A baseball compared to MLB.
So, let's face it, the cats aren't facing stellar competition (or remotely close to it).
