OSU Really Had a Great Year

It was a good year, especially when it was possible not to have a year at all. I think most fans hit a level of contentment beating Clemson. Winning it all would have been nice, but the next several years have the potential to be better than this.

I'll give them credit, that win against Clemson was a big statement. And yes they did get another top 10 win against us, which obviously reflected better on the Big Ten championship game and both teams when we both won big on New Year's Day.

Big credit to Day and their team/staff for pushing hard for the season to be played. Without which, we wouldn't have been able to have the year we had.

Our two programs had great years. Indiana had a great year by their standards but obviously that bowl game was a bad ending for them. Iowa also had a solid year until the cancellations at the end.

Iowa would've had a good chance at a NY6 game if Big Ten leaders had scheduled Iowa-Indiana for the final week and the game had been played. Heck you can argue the winner of that game would've been guaranteed an NY6 berth. Which makes the oversight even more egregious on the part of the Big Ten leadership.

For everybody else, a season to forget.

OSU was solid except for one area - their PUTRID defensive backfield and pass defense which was really surprising for them when you consider the amount of DBs they've put in the NFL. Alabama and a few B1G teams exposed that weakness bigtime. They'll be really solid again next year but how far they go depends on the improvement in that unit
