What a moron. I hope she said no. The guy is an idiot for:
1) Going onto the field when the consequences of such actions are well known.
2) Proposing to his girl in a very non-intimate, public, and tacky way. It's an insult.
At least the decleating rates a 10/10. What a hit.
Years ago, my girl and I were dining at Giacomo's in Boston's North End. It is a very quaint restaurant with a maybe a dozen tables or so. Suddenly, a young guy near us stands up and asks for everyone's attention. Then he launches into his soliloquy: "Every night, I look up at the stars and wonder at their beauty. Tonight, I look at this beautiful star sitting across from me...blah blah blah."
You young guys, don't EVER do this. EVER.
Don't even think about it.
A marriage proposal is not a public performance to impress a bunch of strangers who, frankly, would rather be immersed in their Ceasar Salad or osso buco. If you are going to ask someone to spend the rest of his/her life with you, do it in private, with your full attention on the person and the moment. It's not about you (singular). It's about you (plural). Don't f*ck it up.
