Illinois beats Kent State 52-3 and Minnesota beats them 10-7. Explain that. Is Minnesota overrated?

My opinion is that Illinois played terribly yesterday but is not a bad team. Minnesota is a good team but poor on offense right now. Both games will be tough but quite winnable for NU. I do think that people around here love Kill for some reason and that the people of this board tend to overrate Minnesota (for years).

NU convincingly beats Stanford and, two weeks later, Stanford convincingly defeats USC? Does that mean USC is overrated? Is NU better than USC?

On any given day?

One play at a time, one series at a time, one game at a time. Beat Ball State.

Kill has been successful where ever he has been,. He has built a solid D and has improved the schedule from the old cream puff schedule they always had before. That said, their O still has problems. After last year they lost Cobb and are just getting used to the new guys. He is building a solid program but they are not in reload mode yet and more in rebuild mode.

I think it's pretty hard to use week 1 results in these types of comparisons. It's hard to believe Illinois is that bad, given that they have some talent on offense. Minny's fate rests pretty heavily on Leidner and it's not looking great right now, but can change. Conference play always seems to be a different animal.
