I guess now it is over. One of the greatest inspirations in my life has passed away at age 90, A great athlete and a brilliant philosopher. Rest in peace, Yogi .

Amen. His greatest accomplishment? Sticking it to Steinbrenner until George sort-of apologized.

And Yogi said he never said everything he was said to have said..........

The future ain't what it used to be.

You can observe a lot just by watching.

Why buy good luggage? You only use it when you travel.

You better cut the pizza in four pieces. Because I'm not hungry enough to eat six.

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is.

I've been a huge Yogi Berra fan. From his service in the Navy on D-Day to baseball and beyond. Rest in Peace!

Not a Yankee fan, but I have to respect him. He was the real core of the great Yankees teams of the 50s and, as importantly, he seemed to have a great soul.

R.I.P., Yogi.

A reporter asked Yogi Berra about his two hits from the previous night when Berra corrected him and said he had three hits. The reporter replied, "I checked the paper and the box score said you had two hits. It must have been a typographical error." "Hell, no," Berra said, "It was clean single to left."

I watched every Yankee game on WPIX from NYC as a child. Mickey Mantle was my hero but Yogi was clutch. He may be known best as a catcher but he played left field when Elston Howard joined the Yankees. He played on 10 World Series Champion teams

He was also an anti-aircraft gunner in the Navy and was at Normandy in WWII. His family petitioned for him to be honored with the "Medal of Freedom" ( I may be wrong about the name) but it looks like he will pass on without that recognition

I agree the best Yogiism "Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded"

Goodbye #8

He did have earn a Purple Heart after being injured in Operation Dragoon - an assault on Marseilles. I don't know about other military awards/honors.

On the refrigerator at my office is posted as credited to Yogi Berra:

"I didn't really say everything I said."

I am sure he enjoyed looking down on last night's 10 inning game with Bird's heroics bringing his Yankees the win in Toronto. Rest in Peace Yogi.
