If they brought it back behind a paid wall, I think it would resolve many of the problems, increase subscriptions which in turn would allow a moderator just for it. Add posted, equally applied rules with known penalties and it could be better than before.

Cant disagree that the fact that most of us spend 800% of our spare time watching the Housewives of Orange County or sporting evernts (and I love my sports) than reading or becoming informed on important topics or just doing the hard work of being a citizen. What exactly is there to discuss here? The other thread went off the rails and any subsequent thread will do the same. The Rant Board is dead here, it's not coming back. Again, moderators here (that's me) are not paid. I'm sure one of the opinionated smart folks who want a place to discuss these topics can find and/or set up a website to serve those purposes. It will not happen here.
