Didn’t realize Lovie somehow managed to
land another gig, this time in the NFL with the Texans. Just finished their game with the Chargers. Even though the Texans had a nice late comeback in the 4th q the Chargers held on for the win leaving Lovie and the Texans still winless for the season. He must already be on the hot seat.

The Texans are a joke. Lovie was the DC last season and was hired as head coach when the previous guy got canned. Doubt he's on the hot seat yet, as the expectations are low.

He can thank Brian Flores for his job.

Texans were going to hire Josh McCown as their HC. Flores sues the league for discrimination, Texans bow to public pressure (McCown had no prior coaching experience) and hire Lovie who was already on staff as DC. Right place, right time, right demographic.

Lovie's calm demeanor and Texan drawl are probably a good thing for that franchise. Lovie apparently put the muzzle very quickly on that Svengali-like team chaplain who somehow nearly convinced them to hire McCown (a devout Christian, IIRC). The whole thing was a freak show.

Lovie knows enough to evaluate that roster and get those guys to play. I think he has saved that franchise from real embarrassment. At least for now.

That roster is a disaster. Lovie is actually doing as good of a job as can reasonably be expected.
