Kirk probably isn't too broken up about it. He basically had to leave Columbus and move to Nashville because the Buckeye faithful made life miserable for him in Columbus. (Of course, with the SEC in bed with ESPN, that works geographically for him as well.) I saw him in person at an HS basketball game in (suburban) Nashville once; he was wearing a coat with a turned up collar and a hat (indoors!) so you basically couldn't see his face. (I was assured by other spectators that, yes, that really was Kirk Herbstreit.)
