The Demons certainly have been pretty blue in recent years. They last made the NCAA in 2003-4, when they were a CUSA member. Their last 20-win season was 2006-7, when they went 9-7 in the Big East (their most recent winning conference record).

Chris Holtman got fired for leading a highly underachieving Ohio State team last year, so DePaul promptly hired him. He did not waste any time remaking the roster. The Blue Demons have 14 new faces this season. The results have been better. They certainly could not get worse, as the team won all of 3 games last year.

But last night the Demons opened conference play with a resounding 89-61 loss at St. John's. They turned it over 24% of the time. Wow.

DePaul has 2 guards who can shoot the 3 ball: Jacob Meyer (43.8%) and Isaiah Rivera (44.3%). G Connor Enright is the facilitator, averaging 30 mpg and 7.1 assists.

The guy who can play a bit is new C David Skogman (8.6 ppg, 6.2 rbd), who has some size but will shoot the 3 (47%).

Pay attention when former Hoosier CJ Gunn enters. He averages 8.4 shots in his 17 minutes.

I think we match up well with this team, though our perimeter defense will have to be sharp. They don't have GT's length and athleticism. Matt can handle Skogman in the paint. If the St. John's game is any indication, we should be able to force a lot of turnovers.

Don’t think there will be students or the band at the game. Potential let down game on home court. Don’t need another Chicago state as it’s probsbly the one year anniversary of that game.

Not sure DePaul has a guy who can go off for 30+ points like Cardet did. Their biggest single game point total by a player is 23 by Jacob Meyer vs. Wichita St. He went 4-6 from 3 and 7-7 on FT.

Skogman put up 22 against a decent Providence team with 6-10 from 3. If he gets hot, we could have some problems.

Skogman is an interesting matchup problem. He's not much of a threat in the paint, but can get hot from 3 as he did against Providence. Will be interesting to see how we defense him. DePaul hit a lot of threes in blowing out Wichita State, by far their best win of the season.

DePaul is, as it has been mentioned multiple times around here, improved. That is not to say they are a good team. Last night was proof of that. They have not won any of the games against decent teams. They lost to TX Tech and a struggling Providence.

Just dissapointed they don't seem to have players from exotic places. A dude from the bourbon capital of the wold is as interesting as I can spot.

It is more amazing that they are not able to get good players for basketball-rich Chicago and its public leagues.

DePaul has lost 34 straight regular season Big East games, which is pretty wild. They were actually favored against Providence a couple weeks ago and blew a late lead and lost in OT to keep the streak going.

They’ve scored at least 89 points 5 times this year already. I would think the NU staff will have a good defensive game plan, but if they hit a bunch of 3s and we can’t shoot again it could be a tough game.

I dunno, if I were a Chicago basketball stud I can't imagine choosing DePaul over all the other options available within 100 miles of 'home'.

Uber and I will be in our customary position to heckle opposing teams

DePaul has some extreme tendencies as a team - they are 10th in the country at % of shots taken from 3 and 14th in the country at limiting 3s by opponents. They are also 3rd in the country at assists per made FG, so they will be passing it around a ton to find an open shot, which our defense usually facilitates as well. As Hungry mentioned, they turn the ball over a ton but don't force many on defense.

Enright at PG plays in a very spastic manner, and his assist/turnover ratio is 2:1; he's 17th in the country in assist rate, though he does turn it over a ton as well.

All of their players are threats to shoot 3s except backup center NJ Benson. Skogman's shot motion reminds me of Shurna a bit.
