Rick was a great, not just good player at NU. An excellent DB on very good teams. He became a more excellent writer. I recommend one of his semi-early books, "The 100 yard Lie" and his others, both before and after. His thoughts from his viewpoint are important.

$50,000 is the jurisdictional limit for cases filed in the Law Division of the Circuit Court. The number means nothing, it's a legal formality. If his lawyer asked for more in the ad damnum the defendants could have that portion of the complaint stricken. Stop getting legal expertise from The Athletic...

That is simply the jurisdictional amount to place it in law division. Number will be left to the evidence and trier of fact.
