Pre-season the gurus had our O/U for wins at 3.5. Today we hit the over! We can, based on sure belief and overdue luck grab one and hopefully two more to get bowl eligibility. And we have a bidding quarter back controversy. It's great to be a Cat fan today!

I was a bit higher on this team than most heading into the year (prior to the whole hazing and Fitz dismissal saga).

The two biggest issues the last two years were as follows

1) Unplayable QBs: Nothing against Hilinski and Hunter Johnson, but those were really bad plan A’s. I don’t think either would start in most FCS schools.

2) Overcomplicated defense that the players couldn’t pick up. JON did not have much experience coaching college kids and it showed.

I wasn’t sure how much Braun could improve the defense, but was pretty confident that Bryant and Sullivan (as a backup with some games under his belt) would pick up a few extra wins.

Well, to be fair, Hilinski started for one season at South Carolina.......
He did, with a completion % under 60. He also lost his job the following year and I believe was actually dropped down the depth chart to 3rd string. He was also a sitting duck behind a bad OL for his career here so not surprising he couldn’t stay healthy.

Hilinski and HJ had talent, but there are fatal flaws to their game. P5 DCs overtime are good enough to expose them.

Beyond that backup options were awful outside of andrew Marty. Aidan Smith, Carl Richardson, Cole Freeman. You can’t win games like that.

I had us at 4-8 due to Henning/ Bryant but dropped to 1-11 after the July debacle. Couldn't see these guys recovering from.that mess, but they did. I was especially concerned about DL and QB depth, but they have weathered injuries there so far.

Hilinski is still a Wildcat QB.
I'm assuming #2 on the depth chart currently.

I was pretty sure about 6 and hoped for 7-8 before the hazing incident Dropped to 3-4 after. Better than expected but lower than I expected out of Fitz led team so far
