A kid I'm keeping an eye on from Houston is Grant Delpit, a DB from Lamar High School. The reason is because he's the son of a friend of my wife's, and I think it would be cool if he possibly ended up at NU. His recruiting has really picked up recently, and he got offers this past week from Oklahoma and TCU. He still doesn't have a ranking with Rivals (see link), but I'm guessing that'll change soon.
His mom's an attorney with Exxon-Mobil, and he comes from a great family. He's one of those kids who may be dreaming of playing at a "name" college football program and then the NFL, but his parents are hammering the academics and would be ecstatic if he were to get an offer from a school like NU or Stanford. He went to a camp at NU last summer, and although I sent Randy Bates a note letting him know about Grant, I don't know what, if anything, came of his day at NU.
Again, it looks like his recruiting is picking up, and I'd love for NU to get into the mix. I think that with his parent's emphasis on academics, NU would have a shot (if interested). We'll see how it plays out, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
