Proud of our effort. Valpo is a winning program. They really missed Tevonn Walker. Since Texas Tech, we've rededicated ourselves. Worked on positioning, on-ball, post defense. These three games this week were important for us to see where our team was headed.

Reset? Reset defense after Texas Tech, even though we lost two games. GT had only 52 points, held Purdue to 74 when they average 90.

Ball movement: Guys were sharing it. 19 assists, only 7 turnovers. Being not good was fun. We had to go through that. Do you want to fragment or come together and be a good team?

Killer instinct: That was something we had problems with early in the year. Our bench is playing better. Gaines is coming of age. Gavin gave us a double-double tonight. Have more depth.

Long stretches holding Valpo scoreless: In timeouts, you reiterate win the next four minutes. Break the game up in increments.

Defense: Attacking handoffs. We have length and quickness. Getting more instinctive.

12 of 22 on 3s: They played a lot of zone and they haven't done that. Gonna get more 3s facing the zone. Feel like we have good shooters. Law got hot early, we have Lindsey, Aaron's back, Gavin. It's an important part of our game.

What has changed since Texas Tech: A lot. We changed our attitude. We started from scratch again. We built something that crashed in a week. It was tough.

What was reason for crash? We got comfortable. We got fat. Everyone tells you how awesome you are. There's nothing new to learn. Only one new guy. It was almost like a cakewalk. Texas Tech exposed us.

Still wearing the plain Ts at practice. Will they get the old ones back? I don't know. I kind of like the plain ones.

Valpo coach Matt Lottich

I don't think we competed very hard. We've got to be much better. It's tough. Our senior leader's out. It's finals week. Our guys didn't look like they had fun playing tonight.

We're young. We're turning the ball over a lot. Northwestern and Purdue, teams that are as big or bigger, we struggle. They made us shoot over their length and we struggled.

Walker: Don't know when they'll get him back. Never know with mono.

Defending the 3s: We didn't rotate well. One guy did -- John Kiser. That's not who we are. We're a good defensive team.

How big were Valpo's big guys? Does anybody know?? They looked at least 7' or bigger! I thought Pardon and Benson were pretty good shutting them down. Only a few points by V's big guys!
