26th best player in America by one meaningless story. Nice recognition nonetheless. Ranked ahead of Nova's Jalen Brunson ("maybe the best PG in the Big East"). 4th highest Big 10 player. Seems about right. But the article is wrong, he is a PG not a SG.

26. Bryant McIntosh, Senior SG, Northwestern: One of the best players Northwestern has had in the last few decades, he averaged 14.8 ppg and 5.2 apg, but actually shot better from the field his first two years. Gave Wisconsin 25-7-7 in February; scored 45 points in two NCAA Tournament games.

Is he already in NU's all-time Top 5? The case could be made ...

I don't know about statistically, but he gets a huge boost for that game against Vandy. You could argue that his 25 points was the most clutch performance in NU hoops history.

He's the all-time and single season assist leader, a four-year starter and leader of only NCAA tournament team. So yes he's one of the top 25 NU players of all time.

McIntosh has had a few of those games where he just carried the team on his back. Columbia and Wisconsin in the 2015-2016 seasons come to mind as does Wake Forest in 2016-17, and then were the clutch game clinching shots like the one against Dayton and the biggie vs. Rutgers at home when we were wobbling.

For sure top 25! But the question was whether he was top 5, which is closer case

My top 5:
Joe Reiff (two time All American and won 2 Big 10 Championships)
Otto Graham (All American)
Evan Eschmeyer (All American)
Billy McKinney
Jon Shurna (All American)

This is a good list and it's hard to find someone on it to downgrade. Mac's at 1,341 career points right now and if he matches last year's point total, he'll come close to 1,900. Add the assists and hopefully two NCAA bids, and I think we'd have to consider putting him over Shurna at a minimum.

For me, if Bryant makes first team All Big 10 he passes the Baby Faced Assassin.

BMac already cemented his place in NU bball history, leading the Cats to The Dance. Clearly in the top ten all time, the question remains what he has in store for his senior season. If he leads the Cats to a Big 10 crown and an Elite Eight or better, he could vault to the top of the list.

"Could" vault to the top of the list??? If this was the season they had, and he was the reason why, he'd go down as the best basketball player in NU history BAR NONE!!!

Absolutely. But I do expect others like Lindsey, Pardon, Law, et. al. to have some contribution to the overall success, maybe just enough to make it debatable.

Well of course, that goes without say.

I said it after they los to the Zags last year - I'll be disappointed if they're not in the sweet 16 or better this year, unless they're ravaged by injuries (which would be so NU I feel like)

Bryant has a shot at becoming the only player in Big 10 history with 1,750+ points and 750+ assists.

Currently, he's one of only 15 players in league history with 1,340+ points and 550+ assists.

For context, I looked up the all time B1G assist leaders. There are actually are only B1G players to ever dish more than 750 assists:

Mateen Cleeves, MSU with 816 assists & 1541 pts (1996-2000)
Bruce Douglas, ILL with 765 assists & 1261 pts (1982-86)

Go BMac!

No way he can catch Cleeves in assists but he's got a shot at catching Douglas.

He's 26th in Big 10 history going into this season. Barring injury, he will finish somewhere in the top five.

No offense to Reiff or Graham, but I think sports has evolved quite a bit and I'm not sure they would even see the court in today's game. Is the list based on accomplishments or on basketball talent as it relates to the current game? If the latter, BMac must be top 5, right?

That said, I've never seen a single play from either of these two or McKinney. So, I'm aware that this post is a bit of a troll.

Couldn't you also say that the speed and style of the game has changed so that BMac has had some advantage in getting got these numbers?
I'm not arguing, I'm asking. I don't know BB that well.

So amazing that Cleeves was able to set such an untouchable career assists total while also missing 13 games with a broken foot his senior year. One of the all-time greats!

Assuming Kelly's numbers are legit, it appears that even if he only averages 10 points and 3 assists per game (and remains healthy omg), he'll be in Denzel territory.
