PSU -24.5

This could be a very brutal game for us. A blow-out loss can be really devastating both physically and psychologically. Anyone who has had their butts kicked playing in a blow-out knows the feeling. I always love to see us beat Franklin/PSU but there is little evidence we will be competitive at all in this game based on our non-conference losses to lesser talent than PSU will be bringing to the field. Blow out losses to BigTen opponents should be the line crossed that our admin needs to take heed. Losing those non-conference games is bad enough, but blow-out losses reflect not being able to compete in the conference and should be a major red flag to the admin that the program is in deep trouble. Disappointing that both major sports programs have descended to the doldrums. Changes need to be made. No more long-term contracts either that locks in failure.

Sounds about right... I was thinking it might even be higher than that. The PSU running back has got to be drooling at putting up some big numbers.
I remember a game in the Dark Ages when Purdue (?) RBs were playing rock/paper/scissors on the sidelines to get into the game and pad their rushing stats. Will be a lot like that against Ped State.

I'm conflicted on rooting for the blow out, to be honest. Unless Fitz is plotting strategic change on his own, he's gotta be pushed so far out of his comfort zone that he has absolutely no choice but to make hard decisions.

I can VIVIDLY remember our 5-7 seasons where his defense was, "it's not like we're getting blown out..."

“Ped State”. if all else fails, make light of a tragedy. Who said Northwestern was classy???
It’s not ‘making light.’ It’s acknowledging that the most beloved figure in the state of Pennsylvania facilitated rape in his locker rooms for decades.

Making light of the tragedy is when you call it “horseplay”.

#neverforget

Anyway, enjoy your win Saturday. The cats are baaaaad.

^ Fair or not (I don't use the term), a portion of pretty much every B1G fan base refers to PSU like that (as do other fan bases across the country).

Like I said, there are still many, many PSU fans in denial about Paterno and the admin having buried their head in the sand when it came to Sandusky.

Your university has been making light of that tragedy for decades. If you came over here to be the pot calling the kettle black, well, all righty then.

Ha, no worries. I did not know if Northwestern was any different than Rutgers. Now I know. Have a great Saturday!
We’re certainly different than Ped State. We’ve never facilitated serial rapists and child molesters.

Everyone knows how horrible Jerry Sandusky was. What can you tell us about Todd Hodne?

The President who was actually charged was a Northwestern grad. Remember the guy that Paterno notified?

Really you guys should have received the death penalty.Paterno and the red headed OC knew about the depravities and did nothing. And this Sandusky did the sexual assaults for years.Paterno ran the show and everyone knew it.
Nortwestern grad or not nothing in the football program at Penn State discipline or whatever did not happen unless JOE PA gave the O.K.
A chicken bleep NCAA gave a slap on the wrist. If you want to talk about your football program no problem
.If you don't like being called Ped State well it is called that for a very tragic reason.

We all knew that the death penalty would never be doled out again after what happened with SMU. They are still trying to be relevant 35 years later.

The NCAA is chicken$hit when it comes to anything that threatens the franchise, so PSU got an inconsequential penalty and the whole thing was washed away.

But I cannot ever dissociate PSU football and "vehicle for child rape" in my mind. And the way so many fans responded to the travesty has cemented my disdain for the program. The Sandusky - Paterno complicity is probably the worst thing in the history of college football.

I have absolutely nothing empirical to base this on, and this may be evidence that I'm losing my mind, but I've got kind of a good feeling about this game.

God bless you, Alvious, but... you're losing your mind.

If we (NU) win this Saturday, I’ll be beyond shocked. But I am pretty confident we’ll cover the 26. Penn State is significantly better than us, but I think they are a little worse (but still good) than people think, and we are a little better (but still bad) than people think. My guess is something like 38-24.

So NU will score 10 more than they did against hydroxide at home......

Hmmmmmm.....
Totally fair, but as frustrating and bad as everything has been, the offense has actually moved the ball some. I'm not saying we are some juggernaut or anything close to it, but turnovers have killed many drives. One of these games the turnovers will be down and it will lead to a few more scores. Whether that's going to be in this game or not, who knows?

The line has moved to PSU -26.5.

Interesting to note that OSU is -40.5 at home versus 3-1 Rutgers.

So, Vegas thinks we’re a decently better bet to pull off the upset? Right guys?

The line may have moved to -26.5 b/c Franklin says qb Clifford is healthy. No blowout; Penn State does not want to risk injuries for the Michigan game. And NU should be highly motivated.

Please accept our apology.

And, I know it will be difficult given the well known traditions and legacy of your program, but please do not rape us - we play football like sixth graders these days and have coordinators who belong in Pee Wee, so please forgive that we fear you will have your way with us and that we are terrified of what you might do to us.
