Receivers Transferring?

Is there something to read between the lines about the new QB/Offense direction? Two WR who we thought were going to be prominent involved in this year's offense (at least one of them) have both transferred late - after seeing spring ball. Is there something to read in the tea leaves?

I'm hoping means that they feel they were beaten out and want to go somewhere for PT. I would have like for Wright to stick so we have an emergency QB

I think the "obvious" and easy take is to think that their playing time would be at risk. But I wondered if anyone in "the know" thought we were heading more towards a TE/RB/Slot receiver-heavy passing transformation as another indicator that we might not rely on multiple WR packages in this "new offense"

Wright and Johnson were both down the depth chart.

Hopefully we'll soon be reading about 2 new studs wrs transfers to nu?
We got no place to put them, Supposedly we are at 114 on the roster and have to pare that down to 105. NU also has an artificial (because the new NCAA scholarship limit is 105) limit of 85 scholarships and we are presently slated to be at 91. So there are currently no spots for additional receivers.

Can’t look at it that way. We need to replace Johnson and Wright. We’ll need to sacrifice in other areas in order to get the necessary numbers back at WR.

There were zero returning WRs who could be projected to play an impact role because there was zero players who had remotely demonstrated impact, starter ability and also zero blue chip type talents on the roster one could reasonably guess to have a lot of upside. Johnson is just a name we know who cracked our two deep last year which lacked any legitimate guys. He had 176 career yards.

The exception to this would be transfers who were brought in to be impact guys.

Hopefully this is the sign that a few guys actually developed.

I read somewhere that Mike Wright was open to a position change. I would think if he were open to changing positions, it would make sense to stay. I think it would be harder to market himself through the transfer portal as an unknown entity to a new position.

Hard to gauge WR play when the QB spot was basically a disaster

CJ and Gray are both guys who have had 4 years here, received spotty playing time, and produced very little. They almost certainly were passed over for younger guys. They have their degrees. Transferring gives them an opportunity to play more in their final season.
