...is as bad as it's ever been, IMO. The concept of letting them play is almost completely absent. Every single play with any type of contact has to have a call. Refs constantly call fouls they think *might* happen, rather than paying attention to if a foul was actually made. It's almost unbearable...

Agree. The desire to clean up the game and allow free motion has resulted in a cavalcade of free throws.

Bingo Bango Bongo V-Cat. Drives me crazy when the zebras guess that a foul occurred ... largely by motion or expectation rather than what they actually saw. Ever notice how many times the baseline ref is far to one side of the basket and calls a foul in the lane on the opposite side as if he could see through all the bodies between him and the play? Why can't they take a few steps to be in position to see something? All of this and more drives me crazy. Glad I am not alone.
