Chicago Tribune - Riley Lees 19 carries 316 yards 6 Td's / 9-15 145 yds no picks in their 55-21 win. Beat an 8A team. Sun Times rated him number 1 QB in the state and Trib has him in top 20 in state. Big pick up not many are talking about. Just saying.....

Etl, many on this board are aware of of how strong a recruit Riley is and are excited about his potential as a playmaker in NU's offense. I agree with Lou, the position switch is the reason he has flown under the radar but I suspect that may change soon. I would not be surprised if other Power 5 schools try to poach Riley from NU. I hope he is solid with his commitment.

I think the fact that his family and friends could drive right down the road to watch him play works in our favor.

He legitimately has my favorite tape of the class of 2016. Seriously.

And I suspect his senior tape will be even more fun.

My apologies to the board.... was not referring to that - just in general. Rivals star rating etc.... Very nice things said here. Really fun to see all the local publicity with Northwestern recruit tagged to him. He won't sway - I am from the area and know coaches, friends etc... He is pumped. Was just excited to see the results from last night. Thats all.

Are you the one who teased what Riley reportedly ran in the 40 then never revealed? Would love to hear said report.

No apology needed. I am sure Riley is very solid to NU but I am confident that other schools will try to poach him if he has as big of a season as I think he will have.

He has received a lot of love on this board. However, the Illinois recruit guru, EdgyTim isn't so high on him and buried him way down on his "Top Illinois" list. Even 247 has him buried outside the top 50 recruits in Illinois. WTH?
Our "Illinois" recruit guy is Corbi who usually goes and sees a lot of our Illinois players play. Not sure if he has seen Riley but Corbi has been VERY HIGH on Riley. Good to see Riley doing so well this year, I hope he stays healthy and I'm sure the future is very bright for him and playing time at NU.

At any rate, with 5 TD's and close to 300 yards in the first half on only 15 runs, I'd have to believe that a power 5 conference that wants him as a RB would have his ear. I mean, with those sorta numbers, who wouldn't want the ball in his hands other than sticking him out in left field out wide? There has gotta be a reason why nobody offered him with the idea of RB, maybe he is too small, etc?

Who cares where is rates in the grand scheme of things. Let's just hope he stays with us and he is that good next year. I really think we will see a good flow of freshman on the field for us every year. Speed is what we must have, because there is simply no substitute for it. This year with Shuler, Vault, Anderson, Roberts and Vitale we have that for once. Every one of those players is fast for their respective positions and three are track guys.

It's great to have all this speed for a change, getting to the outside and then to the end zone. However, it always gets back to the guys up front who make it possible to get started. speed has no value in a collision. Vault's TD last year was speed AND good blocking along the way. Now if our blockers are also "speedy" then the whole idea of a fast guy with the ball takes on a whole different meaning. So lets get a little love for the guys up front who make the openings appear!

Nothing like hijacking a thread.
