From the recruiting rankings article comments on insidenu, written by Jango Glackin's Dad. Makes you feel kind of good. (also, fyi, that was a typo when we said he committed Jango to NU)
"Coach Fitz and his staff don’t cheat, bend the rules, lie, cheat, or deceive to get recruits. They could do all these things to increase their rankings, but they represent a great University and they represent you, the loyal fans and Alumni who support this program. I can’t tell you how many programs break these rules and benefit from dishonesty . But because of Coach Fitz love and loyalty to this program you wont read about players being a problem on or off the field or dishonoring your University. You wont read about NCAA violations. Northwestern has to recruit high character and high academic athletes, and do it with integrity and honesty. My son and I picked Northwestern because of these things. I raised my son to have these values, and I want a coach who lives those values. Some Universities don’t care about character, academics, or anything else except athletic ability and how much they think they can help them win. Be glad if you see a recruit is coming to Northwestern, you can have faith that this staff has done their research and has made sure the player and family will honorably represent your University. When I committed Jango to Northwestern, almost every coach who offered my son or was in the process of doing so spoke extremely high on Coach Fitz. Even the Coaches respect him and how he conducts himself. Myself , I find it refreshing that a Coach puts honesty and integrity above all things, that he wont sell his soul for wins. I have no doubt we will be successful in the next few years. I am excited to see this staff develop these players and lead them. I am relieved to know my son will be guided in the right direction and be set an example by one of the best backers to ever play BIG football. My son would NOT be at Northwestern if Fitz wasn’t there. My son would NOT be at Northwestern if they did recruit high character kids, and he wouldn’t be going to Northwestern if I didn’t think we would more than compete. Fitz and the Coaches have a great eye for talent. The Coaches can’t play for the players. They have to want it, work for it, and believe they can achieve the loftiest of goals. Fitz is bringing in leaders and hard working kids who want to compete and succeed at the highest level. Be skeptical all you like, keep us motivated, call us out when we aren’t performing, and come out and cheer for us. The next few years is going to be a fun ride."
