Just got the email from NU. Here are the pricing tiers:

Lower middle: $447
Lower corner/upper middle: $366
Lower end: $294

For comparison, last year my tickets were $294/seat. And they were in the 4th row of the bleachers (lower middle, as it will be next season). So....

Oh, and parking is $170 for the season.

This is going to be bad...

Is this for the 2018-19 season at the new WRA?

Can't believe they are raising prices at a temporary arena. Pretty foolish, when they should be throwing fans a bone for putting up with the inconvenience!
Actually All-State Arena might be a lot more convenient for many. Best seats there are I the 2nd deck, first couple of rows.

The 2017-2018 season at Allstate Arena is going to be challenging for me.

Last year I paid $366/seat for the purple seats in the upper bowl, so paying the same amount for an average seat at Allstate is essentially a wash. Of course, the ability to enjoy a beer during the game has its attraction.

However, at Welsh Ryan I always did street parking, which is probably not an option at Allstate. So now I have to factor in $170 for parking; again, not necessarily a deal killer, but still another inconvenience.

For me, the big problem is getting myself and Mrs. Astro to the game on weekdays. We both work. Getting there for a 7:00 PM start would be tricky, but doable. A 6:00 PM start would be impossible. I do not know how the schedule is shaping up, but if they could schedule more home games on weekends and fewer on weekdays, that would help. For those home games that must occur on a weekday, eliminating the 6:00 PM start would help a lot.

I've always assumed there's going to be a little Donald Stephens/Sopranos tax that goes with the cost this year.

Playing in a crummy arena with double the capacity of old WRA that's 40 minutes from Evanston and increasing some people's season ticket price 52% for equivalent seats doesn't seem like a good strategy for maximizing the amount or share of NU fans at games.

I thought Kellogg was a great Marketing school?

And as usual piss poor communication from the athletic dept. They could have sent an email ahead of this explaining what's going on, how it works, how it affects 2018 in WRA.
Instead it comes across as the typical grubby request for money, taking the fans for granted, with minimal details buried in the application. Not the way to build loyalty.

Guess they realized they need money to pay Collins

Actually, the parking is OK for that as I think they normally charge about $20 to go into that lot

Isn't that sort of what they are doing? Still seems like they are reaching out earlier and earlier.

Are these rates not comparable to season ticket costs for other B1G teams that made the NCAA tourney?

Also to pay for the hotel rooms, apparently ...

Collins, meanwhile, recently spent time discussing the logistics involved in utilizing an outdated arena, busing players to practice and then back to class, bunking at a hotel in the suburbs even on the nights before home games.

Well isn't the team practicing on campus? Also W-R was also a outdated arena, right? I think the football team always stays at a hotel the night before a game, even when the game is Evanston. No problem.

Ill see you guys at All State, lol.

This year will be my first year getting season tix. I actually live in-between Evanston and All State so its same difference to me.

This is not good. It's a nightmare for me to get to Allstate from here and the increase is really going to make me think twice. I've had season tickets for 15 years and I really have no interest in driving all the way out there, paying for parking, and spending a lot more for my tickets even know I love this team. At least couldn't they have figured out a better parking arrangement? That's bogus!

Hell we have been driving all the way to Evanston for 50+ years and there is no x-way close by. The Cats will challenge for the conference championship and the All Allstate Arena will be packed.

Do you realize how hilariously cheap all those prices are in context of P5 basketball?

It seems in the realm of fairness if one wants the same seats every game. Obviously, seats can be had a lot cheaper by buying on stubhub a couple days prior to any game since there really won't be a secondary market due to few if any sellouts. Maybe Indy sells out but there is no guarantee that we are playing Indy at home.

The only disappointment is that they ask for all the purchases to be had by July 10th. For those who want to consider purchasing season tickets and want to see a copy of the upcoming schedule, prior to purchasing, I don't think the complete schedule is done that early. Dunno.

I respectfully disagree. $450 suggest they plan on alot of single game sales. That makes sense since many season ticket holders won't be renewing due to proximity. Parking cost isnt doing any favors either Turk but one will have to pick up the parking, since there is no street parking. Thus, you are looking at $1,100+ for 2 tickets. Few will renew at that cost but it will allow the university to build up a new season ticket base and mesh it with the old timers for 2018/2019.

When Butler has played at DePaul last couple years, I think parking has actually been free. So it's unlikely given they're selling it, but it *could* be free day of game. I wouldn't pay $170 up front with the off chance that it could be free, and essentially unlimited spots.

Also, yes, that's still incredibly cheap. I pay double that for Butler per seat, with my donation per seat tripling the cost of the actual tickets.

That's for a school with half the alums of NU, and who on average, probably earn a lot less.

Totally agree. Evanston is land-locked from everything but the North Shore and the north side of the city. Not easy to get to for the large majority of suburbanites. O'Hare however is where it is for a reason - easy to get to for a lot more people.

Thats for a program that has consistently been in the elite 8.
Parking for Depaul games was varied. Yes, there were games with free parking but I remember paying $20 as well. If someone plans on going to all the games, then the $170 inconvenience may be the way to go.

Pretty sure that makes it a convenience.

I have no issue with the pricing, its definitely a bargain compared to others. My gripe is the impersonal communication. It would have been so easy for doctor Jim to send out an advance email thanking people for past support and saying the renewals are coming, here's the pricing here's what you need to know, here's how it affects standing in 2018

To those questioning the communication (or lack thereof), what exactly are you expecting. I e-mailed the ticket office a question and was pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call back. I was expecting only an e-mail response.

Does it make sense to compare to other P5 basketball programs? The demand is nowhere near what it is for other programs even when they play in Evanston (for a bunch of reasons) - how many sell outs have they had the last 5 years compared to other P5 - I bet way at the bottom. Now add in playing off campus - doesn't strike me as the time to go for a price hike.

Well I guess Dr.Jim could have visited in home of each and every ST holder, maybe? Then the complains will start with the hotdogs are cold and the beer is warm. Wait, BEER! Scratch all complaints.

Actually don't think that Pen St, Nebraska, Rutgers sell out very often, if ever. Io-a, Illinois and Minny only when their at the top of the league. As stated before those prices are still towards to low end of conference in cost.

NU was 72nd in NCAA in home attendance in 2016, ahead of only PSU and Rutgers and PSU was 73rd. Nebraska was 11th and averaged close to 15,500 - they were also a much better team. A lot of that has to do with number of students, local alumni base and being the only game in town in most college towns.

Unless you know someone in athletics who went to Kellogg, I don't see how this relates.

Any other STHs NOT receive this email?

If you opt out of their marketing spam, you don't get the renewal emails either. That's been my experience.

Anyway, I'm out after ~14 straight years. Might as well save the money for the 2018-2019 gut punch.

Maybe the convenience of being close to a highway opens up things for casual single ticket fans. They simply dont have the fan base for more than a few thousand Season Ticket accounts. I doubt other than a couple thousand renew at rosemont but NU should be in great shape with single ticket sales for bigten games. My bet is that the team averages 7,000 per game.

I talked to my ticket rep yesterday. Contrary to previous speculation I heard both inside and outside the athletic department, the '17-'18 season tickets DO have a affect on when the team returns to Welsh-Ryan Arena.

For next year, I only wanted to order half the tickets I have now. I was told if I don't renew all my tickets this year, I won't have access to my full original quantity for the '18-'19 season. I'll only be able to order the quantity I purchase for '17-'18.

Has anybody else heard differently direct from the horse's mouth? Can anybody be nice enough to call their account rep and verify from a second source?
