Second-half game thread UW

The line has been a huge issue but their performance today gave the team a chance to win if your stars had stepped up. They did not.
Thorson has been sacked 7 times. We have rushed for 35 yards on the game. You can blame others for some of that, but you can't say the OL gave their team a chance to win with those numbers. Wisky D has been in our backfield all day long on runs and passes.

They were Tailgating in the NU Backfield all game.

Now watching on my phone from the pub. At least, if this score holds, we will cover the spread. I hope we don't try the onside kick!

I don't see that. How many times has CT been sacked? The "Stars" can't carry out their plays when the the playbook is totally disrupted. There were a few ball s that might have been caught but you get that in every game.

And even on the passes he completes, his hand is hitting a Wisconsin helmet almost every pass.

That is exactly what I am saying. When defenses blitz, you are not going to block everybody. It's the QBs job to read the blitz and make the defense pay for it. That has not happened today.

But good offensive teams seemed to at least slow down the blitz. And Wisky wasn't blitzing all day. They were rushing four... even on the bltizes, they were dropping linemen and sending LBs.

Why not send 10 after the punter???? We're down 2 scores!!!!

How inconsiderate of them. You mean playing quarterback is really hard?

That is exactly what star QBs are expected to do. Read the blitz, which Thorson is not doing, and make the defense pay for blitzing (which Thorson is clearly not doing).

You keep moving the goal posts. Your original quote was "the O Line has played fine". In no way, shape or form has it played "fine". Even if it's the best game they play all year, "fine" isn't the adjective to describe it

OL did well on the TD drive.

Thorson is not even close to being the problem. If this was a good OL performance, heaven help us. Whisky is going simple delay stunts and we look like we never saw them before. Many times our guys are pushed completely back into CT.

Semantics. Fine = good enough to win.

So, we have 5 guys on the right.... 5 guys on the left... and we dribble down the middle. Ok.

Funny how there were those who blamed Siemian for the 4th against PSU, but that was a better pass rush and Trevor, for whatever reason, didn't have Mark (Moten is a better RB than anyone the 'Cats had backing up Mark).

Thorson is not the problem here. Siemian looked just as bad

Only when McC just kept Siemian stationary in the pocket.

Uggh.... 4th and short. They will probably go for it, right?

Not the worst situation against a top 10 team in the country.
Lets get the ball back and make it a bit more interesting!
