Well, that was fun. NU finally looked like the team many of us were expecting this year in the first half. How much of that had to do with the Wildcats, and how much of it could be attributed to a weak Bowling Green squad remains to be seen.

But NU has 347 yards and 35 points at the half. I'll take it.

Thorson: 13-18, 215 yds, 2 TD
Jackson: 7-44 yd, 2 TD
Skowronek: 2-76 yds, 2 TD
Dickerson: 5-87

BG hit some big plays and Josh Cleveland is averaging 5.7 yards per carry, but the defense came up with a huge turnover and has bent (197 yards) but not broken (7 points).

Now, the Wildcats need to step on their necks and end it early. They need a blowout win to boost confidence heading into the bye and then Big Ten play.

But still taking sacks and not getting the running holes I'd like to see us getting.

And good pressure caused that last incompletion bc the receiver was open.

GDick with a career night!

Per WGN has Dickerson with 150 yards on 9 carries just before the first 4th Qtr TD. Now CT done for the day with a new career high 370 plus yards and 23 of 30 before the TD.

(8:58 now left in the game with score at 42 to 7 as BG turned it over on downs at the 18th yard line. Sounds like lots of backups are in the game at this point.)

Edited to add:

JJTBC also having a great day with 3 TDs and over 121 yards on 18 carries. Nice run by Alviti for 68 yards heading toward the end zone to set up TD by Brown. NU 49. BG 7.

Jarret Doege is the younger brother of Seth (Texas Tech) according to his Bowling Green bio. Can we confirm Ryan Hilinski is the younger brother of Tyler (Washington State)?

An added factoid from WGN. Team record for yards was 704 against Indiana and now already at 672 in this game. BG still had the ball with 5:31 minutes left in the game. Cats then had the ball with close to 3:23 minutes left to go, so up to then still a good chance a new total offense record would be made. WGN now saying likely Cats will not get to 700 yards having been unable to convert the last 3rd down and a minute 37 left.

Up until the last Cats' drive, NU was 80% on third downs with BG 33%. A welcome difference from last week for the Cats.

Fun game to watch.
Sure hope Brown and Glackin aren't too seriously injured.

It has been said before, but we have a fine kickoff man in Otto.

He does a chip shot into the end zone.

Strong legs!

Tough to lose a guy on a meaningless play at the end.

Congratulations to the players and coaches on a well deserved decisive win. Cats win and more than cover at 49 to 7!

WGN added notes: NU's first win against Bowling Green in three tries. Total yards for NU came in at 678. Defense had 9 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and 3 sacks for a season high.

Post game comment by Fitz: "A great bounce back."

Congrats to those who took the Cats -21. This team still needs a lot of work but hopefully they heal quickly and figure things out on their bye week.

Also, I really hope Jango & Brown aren't seriously hurt. Tough to see them both go down...
