Sports Illustrated ranks Stanford No. 18 in its pre-season magazine and says "their only challenging road game is week 3 vs. USC." Sure hope our players are reading that....

Can't argue with the notion that a road game at NU isn't exactly daunting for a ranked opponent.

Fitz 51, a first game away at Northwestern is far from a walk in the park even although this season NU may be reloading. Given that every CFB team is a work in progress going into its first game, few coaches would thank his AD for scheduling this challenge.

After Cal and Northern beat us in our house last year, I can understand where the SI article is coming from. It's up to NU to prove them wrong.

We're 5-9 at home over the past two seasons, including 2-5 last year. Until that improves there's no reason to fear a game in Evanston.

For me as a fan who like's to bet, when I see the Cat's as a road dog...That's the game I want to play. You guys are right, at home we are nothing special. The line won't change much, if at all for this game. Standford will stay a touchdown and two field goals favorite. The number may drop to -12.5 for the Cardinal but that's it.

As a fan, I understand 7's response. If I were to look at it from an outsider's perspective, I don't disagree with SI's article. Back to back 5-7 campaigns don't scare teams, especially without a proven signal caller.
