Bronco's head coach Gary Kubiak announced today that Trevor will start the all-important third pre-season game against the Rams on Saturday. Even more intriguing is that, while he mentioned the other two QBs will play, he declined to state the order in which the other two would appear. There are many who follow that team who now believe that Sanchez has played himself out of the job. If Lynch goes in after Trevor, it would appear that barring a disaster, Trev might be the man in Denver. For now.

I don't envy their decision. Lynch is said to be not ready, and Trevor is almost entirely unknown re game performance. OTOH, dirty sanchez has a long checkered history, they know what they are getting and it ain't great.

Peter King says his money is on Trevor.

Sounds like it is Trevor's job to lose, though he needs to play better. Sanchez serves up more bad turnovers than McDonalds.

If TS flops the Broncos can probably get a competent veteran QB who can play a vanilla offense without stupid TOs. SF got a good one.

They have got Sanchez and can always go back to him knowing his up and down side. If they give Trevor a chance these next two preseason games and in the opener he may find his grove.

It seems sometimes that Trevor is his own worst enemy, which may be a function of the type of game the coaches are calling. It seems he's at his best when he cuts loose and slings away, like in the Syracuse game, the bowl win vs. Miss State, the ND game... other times, he is tight and we've all seen him playing badly like throwing behind receivers etc. Hopefully he can get more confident with the Denver offense and show us what he can do.

Was this a reference to Blaine Gabbert? Or Colin Kaepernick? Either way, I think I disagree...

Trevor has not thrown yesterday or today at practice. Evidently he hurt his right shoulder attempting to tackle the 49er who made the int. Sanchez worked the 1's and Lynch the 2's today. Hope his luck improves and he's healthy tomorrow.

If they cut Sanchez they save several million in salary cap and also don't have to complete the trade that brought him to the Broncos. The Broncos will keep that draft pick.

This is really bad news for Trevor. Just when he was getting a fair shot at winning the job, he gets this injury.

Staying healthy is sort of a skill as well.

This becomes more and more evident to me over the years. Some guys just seem to be made of tougher stuff, while others can't really carry the weight and strength all of the training adds.

Did anyone see what happened? Apparently he hurt his throwing shoulder when he went for the tackle on the Pick 6.

Yep that's what they said. And it was a pretty weak attempt at a tackle at that. Tbh, in the preseason he prob should have just let it go. In retrospect that seems obvious anyways.

Good news. I hope he is 100% and not negatively affected by his injury.

Sanchez has put the ball on the ground 2 times in the last minute. Missed seeing Trevor. Didn't start watching early enough.

I didn't see it but yeah, preseason game where the outcome/score means nothing, he needs to learn to play the long game and protect himself.

Greg Cosell weighs in. He is a respected analyst and gives examples to support his thesis in the attached link:

"Others may disagree, but I think Siemian is a better throwing talent than Sanchez. Not by a lot, but he’s a different type of quarterback. He’s more of a statuesque drop-back quarterback. That’s not Sanchez. And Sanchez is a veteran with a clearly defined track record of inconsistency and questionable decision making, things that have kept him from living up to his draft status."
