New and relatively new faces that could really help the offense and thus open things up for CT and JJ.
1. Jelani Roberts. The fact that he appears to be starting the season as both our #1 kick returner and a part of the slot WR rotation tells me he has gotten a lot stronger and otherwise improved his game significantly. Wouldn't it be great to see him darting through defenses with his quickness. The value of good field position is sometimes overlooked and will be critical to our chances of knocking off Wisconsin and/or PSU.
2. John Moten. How are we going to get this guy on the field? He can run and catch and brings more speed to the offense. Will we see much in the way of 2 back sets with he and JJ lining up in the same backfield?
3. Riley Lees. More speed. Can you ever get enough of that? One over the top strike downfield and a defense will be less likely to crowd the LOS. Advantage OL ... Thorson ... and Jackson.
4. Jaylen Brown ... Hoping he becomes Flynn Nagel's best friend by making plays and drawing coverages that give Nagel opportunities.
5. Ben Skowronek: How far will the big guy on the outside step up?
6.Trey Pugh. If the pup from Ohio can block, he'll play and provide CT an athletic target in a big body. Let's see ... over the top strike ability to Lees/Skowronek/Brown ... over the middle to Dickerson and/or Pugh ... underneath to Wilson and/or Nagel ... in the flats to Moten/Jackson/Roberts. The options are there. How will Mick use them?
7. J. Thomas. All eyes will be on the new LOT. Here's hoping he locks it down before the start of the BIG season.
8. Gunner Vogel. Ditto at ROT....another great take from the Buckeye state.
9. Charlie Kuhbander. Uber talented kicker from Ohio. Odds are he'll be the difference in at least one win this year.
10. Mystery Player. Who else may be asked to step up this year? Seems like we have at least one player each year that emerges to our surprise. Who do you think may be that player this year?
GO CATS!!!!!!!!
