Special guest Dan Persa on this week's podcast

Persa...made some interesting comments on un-imaginative the offense has become....and therefor is an easy prep for the other teams. He sounded perplexed that they were not trying anything new....stating that it did not take that long to incorporate some new stuff.....also interesting was that he said that in his time the players made a lot of on field adjustments separate from the coaches....did not know if this group was doing this..
I have an ongoing theme in my head that Fitz is stubborn and not so creative or even open to creative ideas.....sometimes you just got to out think the other guy...particularly if you dont out muscle or out run the other guys...

Im really surprised that Hunter Johnson came here where our highest ranking OL recruit is a 5.5 with virtually zero interest from top programs. Our OL actually does come here for the degree and no imagination for future NFL pt.

I don’t know, maybe if you continue this negativity, you can convince him to transfer. What’s the point of belaboring this point? Maybe you don’t understand NU has a lot to offer people outside of football.

I think it's so hard to understand what convinces these kids one way or another. Winning is clearly a factor, but rarely the most dominant.

We were really taken with Dan's comments around how involved players were during his time in the game planning & adjustment process. We didn't have the opportunity to ask him how / if that differs from other programs, to his knowledge, but if it does and still works that way, wouldn't you want to be at the place that is stretching you in that capacity? Would be so much better for your NFL development - especially at the QB position. Dan likening it to any good business with regard to management / employees was spot on, IMO.

Huh? Sorry, I was just commenting on the excellent podcast. And my other comments were my own feelings, NOT Hunter Johnson's. From MY perspective, yes a fan here, it appears that most of our OL, if not all, come here with almost the sole idea of graduating and nabbing a degree. Not saying that is a bad idea, in fact, that a great idea that their professional vision is in a career outside of football. As a fan, I would like to have some monster OL who pump iron PRIOR to coming here due to a vision of a profession in football, and then using a degree as a fall back after a professional sports career. If that's wrong for a fan to say, then I don't wanna be right.

I had a former player, who everyone knows, tell me that McCall is a wooden puppet, a sorta Pinocchio. Puppetlike and easy for defenses to figure out. He scripts his first 15 plays and does a good job with that, and our offense moves the ball. But after the scripting, he LITERALLY keeps his head focused on his sheet in front of him, as opposed to following the ebb and flow of the game, and sorta picks the same plays over and over in default mode.

Also, the screen passes that Pesa threw were his own recommendation. McCall incorporated some of those screens after Persa was getting blasted and pretty much had to beg McCall to move the pocket and also do some RB screens. One play that McCall refused, at the time, was the inside screens to a slot guy.
Such a thing would be a play of beauty with S Vault. I watched the Michigan game and BOTH DE's were upfield 5 yards all day long because they didn't have to bother with any short passes being dumped over them. Even a Pee Wee coach could do better. Sad

You’re embarrassing yourself, Turk. And, by proxy, the mods.

McCall has definitely made some subtile and effective tweaks today. Love the PA lead block pull on the first TD.

Really played off of the aggressive nature of the Spartans D.

How was the Pee Wee coach today, genius? Might want to stop completely embarrassing yourself on this board....
