Many of us have been super harsh on Fitz for poor special teams over the years (I know I have been). What a turnaround! Realize that Duke has one of the best returners in college football and we totally turned him into a non-factor. Our punting game was excellent today and Jack Mitchell remains, in my opinion, one of the most valuable assets on this team. I'm giving Fitz his due here. Great job!

Absolutely-- the whiffed block by Hance on the extra point was the only blemish. The blocking on the Vault TD was a thing of absolute beauty.

Given that we were doing great on kick coverage, it makes that pooch kickoff look all the more idiotic.

Did Hance miss a block on that play? The kick was blocked up the middle.

i agree, that pooch kickoff and a couple of the decisions to not field/fair catch punts were head scratchers today. Having said that, at least we didn't muff a punt...

Would love to see musso back in uniform fielding punts - instead, i'm left hoping that the ball doesn't bounce and get downed inside the 5. Or worse yet, take a weird bounce and hit a NU player and get recovered by the other team. Just catching all catchable balls would be better than the PR show we put on every game.

It was weird. OnTV, Hance got destroyed by Fitz after the play, but the block was up the middle and the breakdown didn't appear to come from him. Venting to the nearest person, it appeared...

The coverage teams have been really good., which is a function of quality depth. there's no 'Do I play a good athlete, or my backups on coverage ?' decision anymore. The backups are great athletes, too.

There was one punt not-caught in the first half that cost about 10 yards, with Shuler ranging to his left and waiving everyone off seemingly the moment it came off the leg angled. I think he should have has time to get to that one.
