I was impressed by the speed and quickness of the D Line. Several sweeps were taken down by quick linemen.

Also The linebackers were great in run support. Anthony Walker blew up plays in the backfield, Prater showed good sideline to sideline speed, and Smith layed down the wood.

Defense is starting to show the fruits of improved recruiting.

Improved recruiting? Can't be. We sign way too many two star players and can't win championships because we can't seal the deal with the 4 and 5 star players like Stanford does. Isn't that what some of our more esteemed posters on this board constantly remind us of?

Lancaster catching that guy on the outside was fantastic. You can count on a couple of hands how often that has happened in the past. The Cats looked quicker and more athletic. Quiero, a 6'3" safety, out leapt a huge receiver on a ball that a 5'10" safety would miss. That reflects recruiting.

I thought that was the single most impressive play of the game, from a man-on-man perspective. That's a big boy going from center to sideline to run down a back. We've heard a lot of chatter on Lancaster and finally have him on the field. That play made it clear why many are so high on him.

I agree about that play. Not only the most impressive but also potentially the most important. The back had space on the end around and it is possible they get a first down inside our 10 yard line on that play. If Stanford scores a TD on that first drive, the whole game may have been different.

Actually, no. They've been saying that we've been landing better athletes with better offer lists of late...
