I was looking through my new Phil Steele 2018 mag and was VERY surprised (and frustrated) to see that he does NOT rank our RB group in the top 55 in FBS. I think this is a MAJOR oversight.
Lark averaged 6.0 ypc last year and actually ran tougher than JJ; John Moten gained 6.0 in a similar work load the year before as JJ’s backup and Isaiah Bowser may be one of the more intriguing first year players next year and should get a good amount of carries as a FY. I am not saying they are a top 20 unit necessarily (to start the season) but CERTAINLY in the top 55 over schools like SMU, Houston, Tulane, UAB, UNLV, Ball State, etc.
I WAS happy to see our DL unit was ranked 13th, as our depth is VERY good- take a look at our top 8 DL for next year and it really makes you feel confident in our defense’s prospects.
Love Phil Steele and most of the time I defer to his wisdom, but this RB thing is a MAJOR oversight!!
Look for my preview of NU RBs in three weeks here on the Wildcat Report! WRs coming up this week...
