Right behind #20 Wisconsin. Who NU beat last season. Well behind #11 ND, also beaten by the Cats.

Glad to see Stanford ranked. Means our game will not be ignored media wise and if we win (as I believe we can in a low scoring defensive battle with our stellar secondary picking up picks as we saw in the CAL opener) the victory will be all the sweeter. Lots of upside for NU. For Stanford big downside risk. If I recall correctly, Fitz has only lost one season opener in his entire tenure as NU Head Coach.
Transitive thinking aside, things can go all kinds of sideways in the season opener. There is no reason we couldn't win, They are a good team and there are legit reasons why they are favored but we are not chopped liver. They will face less difficult teams this season. It is a home game too which should hold some water. I just wish the students were in class to bolster the purple crowd.Right behind #20 Wisconsin. Who NU beat last season. The marching band will be there. They report to campus on August 29.
Wouldn't it be great if 8,500 students showed up just one time.It would help to have the other 8,500 students, though.

McCall needs to strap an alarm clock inside zo's helet that goes off after about 2.5 seconds and resets after every play. Zo didnt seem to understand last year that he only has 2-3 seconds or very bad things are going to happen.I agree that we could win. And frankly, I think ZO gives NU the best shot in the first game of the season. He has already had his initiation to college football against Illinois. While he pretty much laid an egg int he first half of that game, he showed signs in the second half. I think Thorson has a much higher ceiling, but suspect he would struggle against a solid Stanford team (see Goff, Jared against NU 2 seasons ago for example).......

and mccall has no business having wideouts doing mid to deep patterns. All wide outs ought to be in routes that would open prior to 3 seconds.
Otherwise we will continue the pounding our qbs will take. After 3 seconds....run for your life or toss it away because an earhole is coming otherwise. And play action would be nice or a misdirection play sometime. Our offense looked like it had a 6 page pop warner playbook with the normative 12 plays and fixed assignments. Very unimaginative and usually line up like clay pigeons.
Love Turk telling McCall how to successfully playcall for a B1G football team from behind his computer screen
