Stanford gained 491 yards to UCF's 181 in their 31-7 win. Hogan had a career high 341 yards, and the Cardinal held UCF to 30 yards rushing. Glad to see Stanford return to form both because it reinforces the strength of the Cats win and since Shaw is a decent person and coach who deserves the success the program has had the past few years.

How can this be true? It implies that our win last week was substantial. That implies that this weeks win could also be substantial. I don't actually believe we are a top 25 team but I think we are a top 40 team which means we could beat ranked teams and should beat poor teams. I would be happy if we beat every bad team a couple of ranked teams and split the rest. That sounds like about 8 and 5.

UCF lost to Florida International and are 0-2 now so they aren't exactly a quality team.

I think the Duke game will be more telling, but even then, the Dukies have been playing mediocre competition. Big game coming up this week for student athlete dominance.

You are using the word "imply" very loosely...watch your logic!
Keep in mind that UCF lost its home opener to C-USA FIU (which finished last year with a 4-8 record).

The Stanford UCF result could also 'imply' that -- as has been suggested -- their 4:40a (their time) wake-up time to play in Evanston did cause them to play significantly below their level, and probably cost them the game.

FWIW, for the rest of the season, Colorado is the farthest East SU will play...so their bowl game (if any) may be the only opportunity to test the wake-up time theory this season (and only if that game KO as early as the NU's game).

You had me until the shaw is a decent person deserving success etc. Not sure how much success he deserves - check back with me at the end of the year, if he wins a decent amount of games with his own recruits (not Harbaugh's, who is not a decent person btw).

I kinda want Stanford to be mediocre, like they did the 20 years before coach Douchebag arrived circa 2006. Sick of hearing 'why can't you do it like Stanford',

Stanford got a very slow start. They didn't score until almost halftime and it was 17-0 going into the fourth. So their D played quite well and could be pretty good, but their O may not be so great.

Central Florida's starting QB went down with an injury in the first quarter and Stanford's offense took quite a while to get going. However, this win did show the potential of Hogan if he gets time to throw. Will be interesting to see how they do against USC next week. As for Felis, stop it with the 440am wakeup call stuff. Enough already!

I blame UCF's terrible performance against Stanford on the 7:30 PM west coast time kickoff, which is 10:30 PM Florida time. These poor Florida kids had to play football from about 10:30 PM to 2:30 AM, which obviously wreaked havoc on their delicate sleep cycles and circadian rythms. Had they played in Florida, I'm pretty sure UCF would have dominated Stanford.

Actually, I think all the sluggish play attributed to Northwestern in its awful, awful 41-0 win this week is due to the weird 3 p.m. start time, which obviously disrupted the boys' meal schedule.

Or interfered with nap time!

Just another old coaching trick to keep the team hungry!
