Stanford humiliates Coach Prime

Coach Prime doesn’t have a lot of talent on the defensive side besides his one superstar who it seems played poorly. Full disclosure, I crashed and missed second half.

The man brings eyeballs to games, his players love him, and many of those players make a lot of money thanks in part to him. Not sure why so many on here gleefully root against him. I would take this guy 10 times out 10 versus a slimeball like Franklin.

Coach Prime's bombast is just too much for some people. I think he's great. Give him a few years, and he will have a very good roster and win lots of games.

I'm in the lawn-owner group. Happy to see him humbled a bit.

I also turned it off at 29-0. Thought Stanford looked completely outmanned--slower, less physical, way less aggressive. Great W for them.

The difference in the second half was the hogs.

Sanders was consistently pressured and sacked. The Colorado front rarely got to Daniels. The O line play and RB blocking for the Buffs looked very similar to Northwestern.

Of course it doesn’t help to give up 200 plus yards to Elic Ayomanor.

Maybe he should have spent some time actually evaluating and coaching up some of the kids he ran off the team after he got the job. They may have been able to help the team.

I was in attendance for the Colorado vs. UNL game and as soon as I landed in Denver the energy was palpable. Prime is incredible for that university in a ton of ways and anyone who wouldn't want him at NU is an idiot. He's going to win a ton of games there and wherever else he winds up

All true, except it's basically an NFL prep program / INL feast and nothing to do with academics. I want NU to have a strong NIL to attract and support student athletes, but that's not the same. Prime is doing a good job, starting with very little.

Win or lose, the Colorado games have been pretty fun this year. Hearing "Coach Prime" from the announcers every 30 seconds is a bit much though.

Happy to have had Xavier Weaver (three TDs!) going on my fantasy team in this one. These games have been a goldmine for fantasy football, as CU scores a lot and gives up a lot. I'd never even heard of that Stanford receiver before last night and he had maybe the best game by a WR all season.

If he was NU’s coach, can you imagine how many here would be howling for him to be fired if he won the coin toss in OT and elected offense first like he did last night? CU scored a TD on its first possession, and Stanford knew it needed a TD to match and immediately went for broke. On the second possession, Stanford correctly opted to go second since it had the option, and could play for a FG after the interception.
If you want a coach who makes an arrogant rather than smart decision, I think Coach Prime is your guy. Personally, I prefer a coach who plays to win rather than demonstrate dominance.

Coach Prime looks more to be Ricky Byrdsong than James Franklin. P.S. The Colorado DBs were on skates the second half.
That's not being fair to Ricky. Say what you want about his coaching abilities, but he was a stand-up human being - not sure I'd say that about Prime. And at the time he was the only one that would take the job.

Have fond memories of Ricky inviting that day's opposing coach to speak at Fast Break Club luncheons. Gained a lot of respect for Gene Keady, lost any I had for Steve Fisher

Keady was once asked what school has the worst fans (if you are an opponent) and he said "Northwestern because they are so smart and funny". I remember he cracked up - literally had to cover his mouth - when during a quite period in a game while Keady was wearing one of his mustard colored Purdue blazers some student yelled out "Hey Gene, Nice Century 21 jacket!". I always liked him after that, good sense of humor.

Because he is all about himself and it is hard to say his approach is good for the sport
