Chryst firing complicates Northwestern's preparation for Wisconsin
Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald said he was shocked by Wisconsin's dismissal of coach Paul Chryst.
Huh? He was in his eighth year and won more than 70% of his games.I am likewise shocked that a University paying millions to a Coach would expect results, and quickly
Yes it is a shocker. But I didn't realize Wiscy only had TWO rushing yards against Illannoys. Now that is shocking. Know what else is shocking? Losing to a FCS team and a MAC team in consecutive weeks. Could be an ugly game.Huh? He was in his eighth year and won more than 70% of his games.
Miami (Ohio) was not a good team. NU was simply out coachedMiami Ohio lost to Buffalo last weekend and is in the 25 worst division 1 football teams now.
There are only 125 teams in Division 1.Miami Ohio lost to Buffalo last weekend and is in the 25 worst division 1 football teams now.
MAC teams are not garbage. I remember seeing the Eastern Michigan/ Michigan game in the late 90's. Eastern was kicking their ass at the Big house in the first half, but Michigan's much larger lines wore them down in the 4th quarter. MAC teams have beaten B1G teams in the not too distant past. There are only 125 teams in Division 1.
Sagarin has Miami, OH at #91.
Northwestern is #83, largely because we played Penn State to a 17-7 road loss, in terrible weather. On paper it was our best game of the season... but the computer doesn't know the weather.
Miami has played the 38th most difficult schedule and is 2-3.
NU has played the 59th most difficult schedule and is 1-4.
Chryst has been around awhile like Lou said. Pretty hard to follow the guy that built the program up to what it was. I think Wisky has past it's prime as a power in the West, which makes the potential collapse of NU even more frustrating. We could make a run if we had some really good coordinators and a HC that could actually get a vision for the future of the program. Not sure what he is thinking anymore.I am likewise shocked that a University paying millions to a Coach would expect results, and quickly
I believe Wisconsin was looking at the trends, the arms race in CFB, Leonhard sitting there, and decided that averaging 4-5 losses a year since 2018 isn't good enough for them. They don't want to be Iowa with one good season amongst several 5 loss seasons.Huh? He was in his eighth year and won more than 70% of his games.
