Story: NU LBs just focused on getting better each week

They’ve been straight garbage for two years straight now.
To me, the perceived "improvement " vs Miami Hydroxide is a mirage. They ran for 216 yards, even though they had Venus de Milo at QB. Once the Miami coach stopped calling passes, they cut right through us..

Hydroxide? Is that a chemistry joke?

Miami did run for 216 yards, but 66 came on one play. For the rest of the night, they had 150 yards on 43 carries, or 3.5 ypc. That's not bad. Miami did have success on the ground on that last drive, but I think NU was a little gassed at that point. Fitz did too.

Everyone in the building knew what was coming, and NU was powerless to stop it. Miami is in the MAC.

NU was gassed. Presumably, Miami was gassed as well.

This was Miami — a g-d MAC program — doing to NU everything that NU aspires to do. “Imposing their will.” “Hitting us in the mouth.” “Making us suck air.” “Being stronger when it counts.” Geez I hope NU doesn’t throw up four fingers in the air in the quarter break anymore. Delusional.

It was the worst display of football by NU that I’ve seen. I chuckled watching that drive, because what was coming was so obvious, like Miami’s staff finally realized that they could do what they wanted.

It was like the Illinois game when Basanez was gimpy and NU did not attempt a second-half pass. Like the Illinois game in 2019 when Marty started and Azema ran for 100 yards. We couldn’t pass, and we didn’t have to, and we laughed about how far Illinois had fallen.

Hahahahahahahaha

Is Jansey not even a consideration? I spent one afternoon making that guy an All American!

THAT was the worst display of football by NU that you’ve seen? You must be new here. I can think of several just last season that were far, far worse.

It *was* a MAC program just absolutely beating the crap out of NU. At least coach is bubbly and — assuming we saw a depth chart — no changes need to be made!

The week before they lost to a FCS team.

Will Fitz's focus ever shift from the players to the coaches? When you lose one of the best defensive coordinators in the country and there is suddenly a huge drop off in play under the replacement, the problem should be obvious. Combine that with what hasn't been a great offense for years, and there's a formula for failure. At least one side of the ball has to be good

Not sure if you've been watching the press conferences, but Fitz consistently says he starts by looking at the job that he and the coaches are doing.

It will be a welcome relief to see the results on the field. A pattern has been, just when you think all is lost, Fitz surprises and turns it around. A question this time is, given 4-12, what is the tipping point?

Sheesh. Always, people try to take out a big run or two to pretend we are ok. 150 yards isn’t even anything to shout home about.

Big runs are why anyone runs for 5 or 6 ypc and 200 yards. Nobody gets those numbers without big runs. And that’s our problem. We give up big runs. Like candy.

If we couldn’t stop Miami when everyone knew their QB couldn’t pass the ball, what makes us think we have any chance of stopping Singleton?

Does he ever do anything beyond saying that one single sentence?

It’s also bullshit. If he took a real look at the job they were doing, he would puke like the rest of us and fire their worthless asses yesterday.

They beat us with probably the worst opposing QB to grace Ryan Field ever. Everyone knew they were going to run the ball on those last two drives, and we still could not stop them from scoring. A fricking MAC team with no QB.

This of course after giving up 31 points to an 0-2 FCS team the previous week.

This is as bad as the Dark Ages. I’m dreading the B1G slate, that features all 8 teams in the top 50, 3 in the top 15. It’s going to feel like 1989 all over again.

Davis being injured is definitely hurting us because we are now having to play these first year starters and the inexperience is showing on the field every Saturday
