Takeaways: Northwestern 85, McKendree 63

Here are my takeaways from tonight’s exhibition where Brooks Barnhizer scored 29 points in 38 minutes.
Langborg started slowly, but seemed to grow in confidence as the game went on. He had a couple of really athletic blocks, and played point when Boo sat at the end of the game. I thought he looked good.

Langborg is a consistent perimeter shooting upgrade over Chase and is a solid, experienced, confident player, but there is nobody close to Chase's value defensively. Mullins is fast and long and probably has the highest ceiling defensively, though got burned at least twice on back door plays by McKendree guys.

I don't think the rotation is head scratching. It's a new team with a large number of new guys, many of whom will play important roles. So they need minutes together against competition they don't know.
There is a ton to learn about how they run the O, and even moreso on the defensive end when we are going to need great team D to make up for the loss of Chase. It suggests CC is prioritising the need for them to come together and familiarise themselves as a unit - versus just playing young guys.
