It looks like just to watch NU BB games this week (and next) requires someone to sign up for two different streaming services. BTN+ and ESPN+ Do other BIG programs have to deal with this? Don't recall it before this year

If someone has a different way to see the games this weekend.....

When I saw the thread title I thought you were talking about women's b-ball game tonight.

WTF is going on there????

Look at the schedule Mens BB for the SAT game, ESPN + (likely Sunday's game as well) and the game last night and a game after Thanksgiving against NIU is on BTN+ and then the game against Detroit is also on BTN+ So to watch the games this weekend have to have ESPN+ and for the following couple games BTN+

I do not recall that since BTN came about

Most of the nonconference home games for NU have been on BTN+ for years. NU has no control over the TV situation for neutral/road matchups.

A one month subscription to Big Ten+ is 9.99. Hope that doesn’t break the bank.

I was referring to the women losing by 58 (yes FIFTY-EIGHT)...
Easier for NU to succeed in women’s basketball than men’s, given academic constraints. Coach Joe is very good, but this is just more evidence that Collins is special.

It is not just the BTN+ but also the need for ESPN+ as well, Plus there was another game that looks like Peacock. That is not one, not 2 but three streaming services. And then to not get stuck you have to cancel each of them. Sorry but that is abusive.

It appears that Saturdays game vs RI starts during 4thQ of Purdue game.. Any idea how quickly replay will be available on BIG+?

That's the bottom line. We are spoiled bitches.
It's true. This time last year, all but the diehards were like, "there was a game last night?" Now we're spending money to try to watch Western Michigan and Binghamton in November. I don't part with money easily, so I figured Dave Eanet was the way to go Tuesday, but even WGN didn't work for me then. I slummed it with WNUR (not to impugn the WNUR alums on this board) instead.

If anyone on here doesn't feel like shelving out the benjamins for one of the services just DM me I've been using a few places to stream games (ahem for free) for a few years now.

When you pull the game up on Big+ you get the option to watch live or start from beginning. So you do not need to wait for a replay. Can jump from one to the next.

Oh Gordie. Only you could take a 58 point loss in women's basketball and turn it into a over-the-top endorsement of the men's basketball coach.

Did you happen to catch Bruce Weber on the broadcast of the Dayton game? He was pretty direct in his assessment of why NU's defense improved last year.

That may be - I’ve been supporting him for years now despite unfounded opposition and am happy to reinforce it for that opposition when justified. Perspective of comparing to others at NU is healthy, and the women’s BB team is the best comparison. NU women’s basketball should be better than it is; the academics are just not as big an obstacle.

It’s just amazing some NU fans just think being critical for critical’s sake is better than recognizing that what we have is really good. Of course Collins isn’t perfect and can improve - I’m pretty sure he knows that and is working hard at it. But it appears it is really for hard for some to admit how good Collins is. And some conveniently forget Collins hired Lowery. And some forget Collins has always been a defense first coach; why do you think Lowery joined on?

There's a lot here. But you didn't answer my question - did you hear what Bruce Weber had to say about his former assistant Chris Lowery?

Why do I think Lowery signed on with Collins/NU? Mainly because he had accepted a job and was working as an assistant at Missouri State or somewhere like that. Even if Lowery thought Collins might be fired, its still worth getting a Big Ten job and going from there. Of course Collins deserves credit for hiring him, outside of the remote possibility that Gragg demanded it.

But when you write

you are saying "People should not be objective - they should just agree with me that Chris Collins is a really good coach."

I will remain objective, thank you!

You can be objective and still defend and like someone, last I checked.

So I will assume that you didn't hear what Bruce Weber had to say about Lowery... or you did and you are pretending Weber didn't say it.

You aren't defending Collins, you keep telling us that he's a really good coach and if we think otherwise we're wrong... or disloyal.

Objectively, a national poll recently put Collins in a "below average" classification. You have every right to disagree with that. Even I think that could be unfair after last season's turnaround proved that with the right assistants he could get NU into the NCAA tournament.

Apparently some people think Collins is a good coach -- he won B1G COTY last year. 'Nuff said.

What did Weber say, PWB? I didn’t hear it. However, everyone knows Weber and Lowery are good buddies.

Some people do, others don't.

That award typically goes to the coach of the team that most exceeded the voters' pre-season expectations.

I will concede that Coach Collins had a much better year coaching last year than the year prior. That is undeniable.

But wasn't it just a bit weird that those same voters created an "Assistant Coach of the Year" award and gave it to Chris Lowery?

'Nuff said, I guess.
